Clichè

Introduction

* beep beep beep *

Rolling around in my bed turning off my annoying alarm I read the clock to see it was almost time for me to get up and start my day.

I stripped out of my night clothes tossing them inside the dirty clothes bin and began to run my shower. As I waited for the water to warm up I gathered my facial care and brush my teeth. I hopped in the shower and let the hot steamy water run on my skin.

After I showered I lotioned my body down in lotion and sprayed on perfume before I figured out what I wanted to wear for the day. Since I had 3 days off I decided to pamper myself. I threw on a simple white tank top and black spandex and my fuzzy socks and walked down stairs to my kitchen.

" Shit, I forgot I didn't go grocery shopping " I said to myself lowly. Grabbing my purse and car keys I slipped my feet into my Nike slides and walked out to my car. I decided to grab some food at McDonald's then just grabbed groceries after I visited my nana.

Pulling up to my nana's house and locking my doors I walked in slipped off my shoes and the smell of soul food hit my nose almost instantly.

" Aalani is that you pumpkin ? " My nana yelled from the kitchen. As I made my way to the kitchen I seen both my nana and papa was cooking what looked like a feast.

" Yes! Hi nana and papa how y'all doing? I missed y'all " I said as I disposed my trash going towards the big pots. My nana explained to me that she felt like cooking a big feast and invited her kids and grandkids over to eat and it's something Important she'd like to tell us.

Dinner was finally finished and My nana and papa prepared Yams , Gumbo , Crabcakes , Chicken and dumplings , Seafood rice , Mac and cheese , collard greens , cabbage , fried chicken , bbq ribs , cornbread , peach cobbler and pie. And the lord himself know I wasn't going to turn down free food AT ALL.

As I was setting the table in walks My perverted uncle. " Hey pumpkin, how you doing b-baby? " He said as he looked at my body and not my face.

" Fine. " I said very bothered and uninterested in talking to his creepy ass. I heard him mumble something as I walked away to help my nana put the food on the table.

As a few mintues passed by a few of my cousins , aunts and uncles came in and we all gathered at the table to say a prayer and fix our plates.

" Aalani, sweetie would you like to say grace" She said looking at me with a smile. I nodded my head and began the prayer.

" Father, We have gathered to share a meal in Your honor. Thank You for putting us together as family, and thank You for this food. Bless it to our bodies. Amen and Amen " Everyone said Amen And we all began to pass around dishes of food and piled on as much food as we can.  I piled a shit load of each thing on my plate and began to eat as if I never ate before.

" Well I just wanna thank everyone for coming out and I have something I wanna share with you all... " My nana spoke up as my papa cleared his throat he slightly squeezed her hand.

I hope this isn't anything bad.

Lisa cleared her throat and finally spoke up. "I went to the doctors a few months back and umm.. They told me they found a lump in my breast."
