Her own life was in danger, she knew she wouldn't last but, once she gave birth she knew he would.

She leaves life, leaving her son in the hands of a teenager. He doesn't seem to care much about the mother anymore, deserting her in the depths of death and taking her son to study. Yet, many hunters are out for these creatures so he has no choice but to keep it safe.
