"Mom, I'm heading out!" Awtsen called, stuffing his wallet and phone deep into his jean pockets.
"Awsten Knight, where on Earth could you be heading out at this time?" Awsten turned around to face his overly strict mother.
"Muffin needs flea medicine. That is, unless you want fleas biting you and keeping you away from spending time with your wonderful son," Awtsen threw his bag onto his shoulder, his thin frame leaning gradually with the heavy book-art-stuffed creation.
"Awsten, I don't understand why you insisted on adopting that flea bag. We agreed on having her as a foster!" She scolded.
"Mom, its been three years since she came to stay with us. From what I understand, no one in the area wanted her. If I didn't sign the adoption papers, the adoption center would've taken her back!" Awsten ranted.
"Awsten, what have I told you about raising your voice at me? I'm you're mother and I'd at least expect some respect!" Awsten's mother yelled.
"Whatever, I'm going to get flea medicine, for my cat!" Grabbing his keys, he flung the door open, "And I'm taking her with me!"
As if on cue, Muffin trotted out the door, and sat on the car hood. Slamming to door firmly behind him, Awsten unlocked the car for himself and Muffin. As always, Muffin layed in the carrier on the backseat, which was perfect for her size.
Buckling his seatbelt, having the car started, Awtsen turned the AC on and began his drive to the pet store. His purple hair and caramel and blue colored eyes shined brightly as he looked in the rear-view mirror. Muffin stared back at the young teen, slowly blinking as she made herself comfortable in her fluffy, blue blanket. She loved his eyes as much as Awsten loved hers. So kind; So soft; So gentle; So, so unique.

Pulling into the parking lot, Awsten kept the AC on for his precious feline friend. Entering the store, Awtsen confidently strode into the cat section. Picking up a small bag of cat food, Awsten got some treats, a toy, a new collar and the flea medicine he came to get. He had plenty of time before he was sure his mom would cool down from their little fight, so maybe he could hangout with Geoff or one of his other friends.
Awsten checked out the items, exiting the store. His phone buzzed in his pocket, as he opened the car door. Sitting down with a sigh, he shut the door and answered his phone.
"Hello?" Awtsen persed his lips as Muffin stared at him, one eye open.
"Hey Awsten, how are you?" It was Geoff.
"Hey Geoff, I'm great, how are you?" Awtsen smiled brightly to himself.
"I'm good, what're you up to?" Geoff asked.
"I just got Muffin some things, what about you?" Awsten always got giddy talking to Geoff, especially when he called after he had been thinking about him.
"Nothing really... I was thinking maybe we could hangout?" Although Awsten couldn't see him, Geoff was rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah! Where do you want to meet up at?" Awsten began blushing.
"I was thinking the park. Does that sound good to you?" Geoff inquired.
"Of course, I'll be there soon," Awtsen replied.
"Thanks man, see you then," Geoff chuckled.
"Yeah, bye Geoff," Geoff hung up first, making Awtsen let out an overly depressing sigh.
