My roommate of course switched the music and kept her phone standing, facing us on our room's mini dressing table we tried to squeeze into while doing our make up. She was live on periscope, very typical of her to do on a daily basis. I should have seen this coming.
"If you guys didn't know, this is Lana! I'm sure you see her on my feed sometimes." Rae shares, pointing her brow pencil at me and beaming with excitement.
"Hey." I gave a small smile before turning away from her phone.
I watched as the hellos flooded her little chat box, still not saying a word. If there's anything I never understood about Rae, it was her following. This girl made friends like she's making a fan base for herself. Her socials have a rate of thousands in followers and I don't even have half of those, in reality and in my social circle for the past two months.
"Hey, are you still mad at Jake?" she whispers as I applied the last coat of mascara to my lashes.
"Don't speak of the jerk."
"Look, Kristina spoke to him last night and dropped by. He didn't mean to hurt your feelings. She assured me that he's actually a really nice guy!" She adds, making sure to keep her voice low so her hundred friends couldn't hear us.
"Okay and this uplifting talk should convince me to thank him for asking me such questions? We're not even friends!"
"I know. That's what Natalia tried to tell him last night."
An hour later, I decided to sit out at the common area alone with a little granola bar for breakfast, as we waited for our driver to arrive. We had to be at the café by 8:30am and clearly, we were running late. Not to mention, half the team's still getting ready.
"Good morning, Lana." Mrs Sheen greets, walking out of common kitchen to take a seat just beside me.
"Had trouble sleeping?" she adds, giving a quick glance at my attire.
"Hmm?" I shook my head in response still keeping mum, seeing Jake descend from the stairs attempting to avoid any form of contact with him, physically and verbally.
Thankfully, the ride to the office didn't take long and we did arrive earlier than most of the staff. Everyone proceeded to have breakfast and unfortunately, Jake sat just opposite me. With my lack of sleep, I do not have the appetite to have breakfast. Well, most of us didn't. Mrs Sheen, herself and the bosses were having breakfast across our table, leaving the rest of us in silence and focused on our phones.
"... ask her!" I heard whispers and mumbles but choose to ignore them as I typed away on my phone.
"I think she has one?" this time, I hear Karina speak.
I'm not one to ask my friends to stay away from someone I'm having bad blood with and so, it really doesn't bother me if they're speaking to the only person on my blacklist at the moment but this does bother me.
Third Person's POV
Jake leaned forward, keeping his hands clasped together as he cleared his throat, hoping to get the attention of the girl in front of him without saying anything. Lana then noticed, and remained chewing her gum, continued giving him a cold stare with her eyebrow raised.
That's exactly what they mean, huh? He thought to himself, recalling Natalia's reminders on how long Lana could keep her grudges on people who've offended her.
