- YOUR P.O.V -

You, Violet, Klaus and Sunny smiled happily at eachother, glancing around at the quaint town as you rode on the rickety trolley to briny beach.
*sounds of a firetruck*
You tensed visibly, and looked to your right, to see a red firetruck passing by quickly.
Violet and Klaus looked at you sympathetically, knowing how much you hated fire after what happened.
Even Sunny let out some strange gurgles, which you now understood meant 'don't worry Y/n'
You breathed out and smiled "yeah, I'm okay.-- oh look! We're almost there!"

- SHORT TIMESKIP, STILL YOUR P.O.V -

You went through a few new techniques you had learnt from the books in the library, (thanks to Klaus) until you heard; "Hey Y/n, could you find some sandstone? Sunny wants it so I can test out the invention I've been working on." You smiled, brushing a strand of h/c behind your ear, and leaned down. Picking up some sandstone and passing it to Sunny, who said "thankyou" in their strange gurgled way of speaking.
"Anytime" you laughed happily, as Sunny filed down the ragged rock to a smooth sandstone pebble, with her teeth.
You sat down on the orange striped towel that Klaus had layed out. Meanwhile, Violet drew an X onto the pebble with a piece of white chalk. You
watched how Violet held the pebble in her left hand, with speculation.
"Excuse me Violet, but why are you using your left hand?" You inquired, speaking your thoughts aloud.
"I'm curious to see if I can skip the rock as far with my left as I can with my right." You nodded slowly, before Klaus added; "I don't mean to criticise, but standard scientific method calls for stable systematics."
You and Violet both frowned slightly, to which Klaus elaborated with: "You should use your standard right handedness."
"That does seem reasonable." Violet smiled gently, turning bad, towards the sea, now holding the pebble in her right hand.
"I agree" both you and Sunny said/unintelligibley shrieked at the same time.
Violet skipped the rock across the water, smiling, then crouched down, asking; "Klaus, what's that thing Einstein said?" "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious" Klaus began to answer, glancing at you with a pink hue on his cheeks. "It is the source of all true art and science"
"And what's that thing James Brown said?" Violet continued
"I got something that makes me want to shout.-" Klaus started, before you caught on and finished the quote for him.
"I got something that tells me what it's all about." Violet smiled even wider,
and pressed on the side of the altered picnic basket that you had given her on her fourteenth birthday.
You listened to the sweet whirring of Violet's newest contraption, watching as the golden strips of metal hinges and such moved, exiting the 'picnic basket', along with a golden claw, which went across the water, then stopped suddenly, being lowered down quickly into the water in search for the smooth pebble that Violet had skipped.
You watched as it withdrew from the water, creating a ripple effect.
The claw came back to the trio and yourself, and dropped the exact pebble that Violet had thrown, into her hand.
You smiled brightly, along with Klaus and Sunny, proud of Violet.
"I'm super bad!" You, Klaus and Violet said in unison, laughing.
"It worked!" Violet giggled
"did you ever think it wouldn't? Of course it worked!" You replied
"We never expected otherwise." Klaus added, chuckling.
After a few short moments, Violet sighed. "I just.. wish mother and father had seen it."
You nodded "I may have only been here for three years, but even I know that it's not like them to just send us off on our own unexpectedly..." you trailed off.
"Mm, I must say I agree Y/n." Klaus said, a slight frown gracing his forehead.
You heard a small gasp coming from Sunny, followed by her babbling "who's that mysterious figure?"
The two other Baudelaires and yourself looked up at one of the small sand dunes, shrouded by a coating of mist. Whilst hearing coughing.
You stood up next to Klaus, walking towards the mystery figure, before realising it was the very same banker that passed you on to the Baudelaire family.
"It only.. seems scary because of all the mist." Klaus voiced, his fingers brushing against your own whilst he spoke.
Violet picked up Sunny after dusting the sand off herself, and hurriedly caught up to you and Klaus.
"It's Mr.Poe" you said, after being forced to listen to more of his coughing.
"From the bank?" Klaus questioned, frowning "what's he doing here?"
You shivered, getting a horrible taste of Déjà Vū.
You gripped onto Klaus' hand, to which he looked at you reassuringly.
You nodded slightly, turning back to the coughing banker, who now stood before you, asking "how do you do?" To which Violet and Klaus followed in suit.
"*cough* fine, thankyou." He replied, smiling a little.
A silence insued, to which Violet ended with the comment; "it's a nice day."
"It IS a nice day" Poe said curtly. "I have some very bad news for you children." Your breath caught in your throat, but you kept listening, praying that he wasn't going to say what you feared most.
"Your parents- and in your case Y/n, Guardians. Have perished in a terrible fire." Your face paled and you utterly froze, gripping Klaus' hand just as tightly as he was gripping yours. None of you noticed the smooth, sandstone pebble marked with an: X, that slipped between violets fingers, falling onto the sand.
"They, perished in a fire that destroyed your entire home." Mr. Poe continued, much to your dismay.
You tried not to collapse into tears, for the Baudelaire's sake. You, of all people. Knew how hard it was to lose your parents, and you didn't want to make it any harder for them.
"I'm.. very sorry to tell you this.." Mr. Poe said, looking between all of your shocked, and distraught faces.
"My dears.." Mr. Poe said, trying to comfort Violet and Sunny by stroking Violets shoulder with one finger.
"Perished means killed." Mr. Poe added, in case none of you understood.
"We know what.." Klaus' voice cracked "perished, means." Mr. Poe nodded sympathetically.

"I just want to assure you all, that you have absolutely nothing-"
"We have absolutely nothing." Klaus interrupted.
"*sigh* to worry about." Mr. Poe finished. To which you walked through what was left of a doorway.
You stood amongst the ashes of what was the library that you had spent so much time in, trying your best to hold back the tears which now gently flowed down your cheeks.
"I'm a curse.. this is my fault.." you muttered, your voice cracking.
Your knees buckled and you crumpled to the ground in tears, expelling a large amount of smoke and ash into the air around you.
Klaus walked through the smoke, with slightly red eyes, and enveloped his arms around you, in comfort.
You let out a sob and wrapped your arms around him, muttering apologies over and over.
"Klaus.. oh Klaus.. I'm so, so sorry.."
"Shh.. it's not your fault Y/n.."
you didn't reply back, all you did was hug him tighter, never wanting to let go.
You couldn't lose anyone else.
"Do.. do you want to stand up?" Klaus asked gently, to which you nodded shakily.
Klaus kept his arms around your shoulders, helping you to stand with him.
"Are you going to be okay?" Klaus asked with concern, to which you smiled slightly. You wanted to stay strong, for his, Violet's, and Sunny's sakes.
"What's that?" You heard Sunny gargle in her unique language, from through the archway. Looking into what remained of a cupboard.
You wiped your eyes, which were now only slightly red from crying, and the ashes, ignoring the coughing that wracked from Mr.Poe's lungs, and walked up to them, with Klaus beside you.
Klaus frowned, and picked up what you believed was possibly a telescope. It actually looked.. familiar.
"I am the executor of your parents estate, which means, I'll be handling all matters concerning everything they left behind. Just like with your biological parents Y/n." You nodded slowly.
"Also, Y/n. Your parents wanted the Baudelaires to act as your new family in almost all regards, meaning you will go where Klaus, Violet, and Sunny do." You nodded, remembering vaguely that Mr. Poe had said this before.
"So, what did they leave behind?" Violet asked, hesitantly.
"Financial Security. Much like your parents did Y/n."
*gasp* you turned just in time to see what you thought was a telescope, break in Klaus' hands.
Half of it fell to the floor in ashes.
"All of your parents left enormous fortunes. As you already know Y/n." Mr. Poe continued. "Which will be yours when both yourself, and Violet. Come of age."
You zoned out for a while, already knowing what Mr. Poe was likely to say, until Klaus took your hand, leading you out of yet another home.
"Say goodbye, Baudelaires and L/n." Mr. Poe said, smiling, whilst opening the back door of his car.
You stepped into the car after Klaus, and sat in the middle, allowing Violet to sit on the other side of you.
You all looked out of the back window. Looking at what had been your home for what felt like a beautiful eternity, ended too soon.
"Goodbye." Violet said, before turning back around, along with Klaus and yourself.

And that was just the beginning..
