Ayla's wolf ^^

Ayla's POV
I remember the day of The Shift of Power.
Before I was born, Alpha King Caius led all the packs across the globe to over throw the humans. There was an inevitable war between the two, however the humans were no match. Over the years, the werewolf population fairly outweighed the humans and so it was only natural that the dominant species rule. After the war, the Alpha system was considered the new government across countries however they were also all governed by the Alpha King. We need them to man our shops, continue growing the economy and to provide services. It also meant that wolves could roam freely in public however the Alpha King still held high expectations on how wolves behaved around humans. Humans who swore their allegiance to the Alpha King were allowed to carry on about their lives as normal, so long as they followed our laws. The was peace in the land.
Six years on from the Shift of Power, unmated wolves were becoming reckless - consummating with those who were not their mates and threatening peaceful humans. As a result, the Alpha King developed the Mating Games.
Once a wolf turns sixteen, they can start searching for their mate. If by the time they are twenty fice and they still haven't found them, they are required to attend the Bi-annual Mating Games. It sounds barbaric because it is. She wolves are scattered across acres of forest while they are hunted out by scent by a potential mate. All a she-wolf could hope for was that their destined mate found them first or that another male had some type of honor. Those whose mate has passed away or have rejected them can also attend in hopes of finding a second chance mate, but chances of that are slim to none. The only one who was exempt from the Mating Games was the Alpha King Caius himself, as he had ruled with no Luna for centuries.
When I turned sixteen, I prayed to the moon goddess to reveal my mate to me. I didn't want to participate in the savage Mating Games, you never know who would claim you. Last year, the Beta's daughter went along. Her true mate was killed by another contender who wanted to claim her as his own and now she is forced to live her life with her mate's murderer.
So I prayed. But as each day went by and with not even a hint of where my mate was, my fear grew. With the permission of our Alpha, Alpha Grayson, I've travelled to ally packs, trying to catch even a scent of our mate but to no avail. Tomorrow I turn twenty five, and with the bi-annual games only a week away, I am terrified of what this could mean for me.
