Sirens rang through my ears as I pulled up on the controls. If my engineer would get off his sorry butt and do something useful then we wouldn't be in this situation! As the surface of the planet got closer I quickly spotted a clear patch on the surface. I steered the ship to that area, and gave us some kind of soft landing. As we hit the ground the screen in front of me turned to static, and then the words 'simulation failed' popped up.
I got up out of my chair and glared at the engineer, who shrugged at me. The door opened and I braced my self for the yelling yet to come. We lined up in front of our class as our commander started talking. "That was almost a complete disaster! The only good part is your pilot had the common scene to give you a soft landing. The Galaxy Garrison is here to..." He continued to rant but I stopped listening pretty fast.
After he was done he told the next team to go. Their pilot, Lance, winked at me as he walked by, and Hunk shook his head slightly. "Good luck." I whispered to Pidge who nodded and they started. I had known Hunk and Lance for a while now because we had gone to the same school for a few years now. When Pidge joined their team I got to know him pretty well too, even though he didn't open up to much. They were all fun to hang out with, but not the best team in the simulator. I watched them go, and long story short their round was as bad as me and my team.
When they were done a few more teams went and then we were aloud to go to our room. I went in and read on my bed for an hour or so, but then I head a knock on my door. I opened it and saw Lance standing there and a nervous Hunk looking around behind him. "Hey (y/n), we are going out to do some team bonding want to come?" Lance gave me a smirk at the end of his question.
"Well first two things I am not really on your team, and isn't lights out in like five minutes?" I asked sitting down my book and walking out the door.
Lance shrugged as we walked down the hallway and answered. "You are our friend so you're close enough to being on the team. Also yes its almost lights out, but who cares?" Hunk let out a sigh and I gave him a pat on the shoulder. I know he hates breaking the rules like this, but he was a good friend so he always came along no matter what we did.
We looked around the corner and saw the commander telling people to go to their dorms. "We shouldn't be doing this." Hunk said in a very nervous whisper even though the commander had waked away.
"You heard commander Iverson we need to bond as a team. we are going to grab Pidge, hit the town, loosen up, meet some nice girls-" Lance answered but was cut off by Hunk again.
"Yah, I know I-I'm just here right now on the record this is a bad idea." You chuckled at poor Hunk, but some Lance took off. You looked at Hunk and then ran after him, and like always Hunk was right behind you. Even with his worrying he wouldn't leave us to do this on our own.
As we were running by the cafeteria Lance spoke up again. "You know for someone in a space exploration program you don't have much of a sense of adventure." All there of you crouched down under a window and Lance looked in.
"Will you give him a break, I mean he is right this is against the rules." I sided with Hunk, but I really wanted to go out on the town.
