Peace of Mind

Hi everybody, this is kind of a poem I guess. Just something that popped into my head one time, let me know how it is please.

The quiet was unnerving, impossible to escape.

The silence echoed from all corners of the cold white room.

The single light, blinding, seemed to be the only other occupant inside.

Besides the ghosts of memories, images flashing around, tantalizing the girl inside, making her wish for the freedom that lied outside the room.

The girl, holding her arms tightly around herself, almost as though keeping from falling apart.

Or as though keeping everything away from her, disclosing everything off from touching her.

She started rocking herself, as tears trailed down her face.

The girl was fearful, she feared the change, the captivity, the fact that she can’t think for herself.

She feared not being herself; they were trying to strip that of her.

The isolation was already getting to her.

They called it “curing” her; she thought it as killing her.

Every time they pumped more substances into her body, it was slowly murdering her.
