Based on the song The only exception by Paramore. Dan doesn't belive in love. He meets Phil and suddenly things change. Yada, Yada, Yada. Cliche, Cliche, Cliche.

Dan's POV 12 years old

"Jennie I can't do this anymore!" 

Dan heard his dad scream at his mom. This had become a regular occurance in the Howell household. It seemed evey day there was a new fight, another argument. Dan had grown weary of hearing his father and mother fight. 

"Well, if you can't take it anymore than maybe i'll just leave!!!!" Dans mother screamed back. 

Laying on his bed curled up in a ball, Dan heard the door slam and he whimpered. He heard his father make his way up the stairs and open Dans door. 

"Daniel I'm sorry you have to go through this every night." His father said sitting down on the edge of the mattress. "We didnt mean for it to end like this. But you should know, you're mother and i are filing for divorce."

 Dan started to cry. He didnt like it when his parents fought but he didn't want them to split up. He wanted a happy family with his mom and dad.

 His dad patted his back and dan asked, "Did you and mom ever love each other?"

 his dad studied Dans face before replying, "At one time i think there was love, there was a point where it was easy. But now, well, i broke my heart and now you have to watch as i reasemble it." 

Dan sat up and hugged his dad. He could tell his dad was surgar coating the truth. The truth wich he already knew "Love doesn't exist does it dad?" Dans dad shrugged his shoulders but didnt disagree. Dan knew at that moment he would never allow himself to love someone.
