“Strings”
Their bodies mere puppets
Who dangle with dead hearts,
Just broken toys
Who lost their part.
Their lives bound to us
Tugged around to start
A party less fancy,
A smile for art.
Their movements less faithful
To the gratified farce
Than a woman with a man
Or a fool half-smart.
(poetic devices used: metaphor, personification, simile, repetition)
Haikus:
It cannot be this way
Like the sun can’t love the moon
For we are broken
(poetic devices: simile, personification)
When soft rain patters,
A frog leaps into summer
To escape heartbreak
(poetic devices: metaphor)
On the powder snow
A soul ends with a stiff bow
For the tragic end
(poetic devices: synecdoche, metaphor)
The red string is cut
Two fates torn by harsh winds
From the death forest
( poetic devices: metonymy)
Limericks
Mister Ramirez is in trouble
His gum doesn’t know how to bubble
So he set out for France
Where he learned how to dance
But all he brought home was a stubble
All of Sarah’s dolls are worth money
So she traded them for some honey
When she got home so late
Bringing a large sweet crate
Her parents had bought her a bunny
