Prologue

(Three years ago)

At the time, I didn't think we could win. My whole team of Pokemon were unable to battle. Except one. Zoey, my journey long companion, who I've known since I met her at Professor Sycamore's lab, stood in front of me, the flame on the tip of her stick burning brighter than I've ever seen it before. On the other side of the glowing battle stadium, stood a tall, majestic green and white Gardevoir, its arms extended forward, holding a dark pulsing, shadow orb. Zoey couldn't take another hit from a Shadow Ball. She was already bruised and beat up from the rest of the battle, having to take out both a Gourgeist and a Goodra, Prior to fighting this Mega Gardevoir. My opponent, Diantha, folded her arms and looked up to me and my Delphox.

"You really have done well up to this point," She said, with a smirk. "But you can't take my position as the Kalos-"

Her voice faltered. Just as she was about to utter her last word, a Mysterious portal opened above her Mega Gardevoir. This was Zoey's Future Sight. I knew, that now was my only opportunity to finally beat Diantha.

"Zoey, Mystical Fire!" I shouted. Before I could even get the words out of my mouth, Zoey was furiously waving her stick around in the air, creating a massive whirlwind of Psychic powered flames. Gardevoir's eyes widened, then turned around to face the now car-sized gap above her head. In one last desperate attempt to win, Gardevoir whipped back to face Zoey and cast the dark orb as hard as she could at her. But it was too late. In a flash of white light, I was blown off my feet by the force of the explosion. All I could think of as I landed square on my back, was that I knew, I had just become the new Kalos champion.
