Shelby's POV

Life was hard nowadays, my dads passing inflicted my moms life like a lamp to a bug. I came home everyday to a drunken relative who didn't give a shit about what happened to the world anymore. My dads death heavily affected me too. Even before the death I suffered from severe depression and anxiety. The death only made all of it worse.
My mom wasn't able to maintain a job in the state she was in, god knows I couldn't either. Around 3 months ago, I scrapped up some learning and took up a job at a local coffee shop. I brewed and made everyone's orders, I've had to fill in some waiters from time to time, but I managed slightly. Work loaded up on me massively since the past few weeks, causing insane stress. Usually, I find myself cutting at least each day, I've been bullied in the past as a kid and have been through it since.
My work clothes were tossed into my light blue BTS bag after I had changed. My hair was a mess but I just felt the need to get home. Tossing my flannel on over my BTS Suga tank top, I walked out of the kitchen into the café. People looked up at me, wondering who I was. I was a nobody, and will never be a somebody.
Cherry blossom petals from my front yard crowned my head as they fell free. Stopping, my eyes admired the beautiful structure I planted and raised. Enough was admired so I soon took my keys out to unlock the house. I struggled to twist the lock but I had finally gotten it. Walking in and tossing my bag to the side, I shut the door and locked it back the way it was.
"Mom! I'm home from work!" I usually get the usual 'Fuck off!' or 'Shut up!', but this was different. An eerie silence clouded the air, along with a sense of hatred. I tossed my keys on the messy counter and walked up the stairs. The silence filled me, silence was never a part in my life that I got. At the same time, the silence scared me.
While walking up the stairs, I heard creaks and moans. Moans of pain. I fastened my pace up the steps and ended up in front of my mothers room. The door was only cracked slightly open and a tall shadow stormed over the wall. Curiosity got the best of me, but I wish it hadn't.

1 Month Later

The sharp, metal, blade rested gracefully in my shaky hand. Crimson red soaked the bed sheets, my arms, and the blade. My eyes took glance at the ceiling and refused to move. I never got my mother's image out of my head. The vivid detail brought pain to my aching heart.
Her septic ridden body hug far above me by a rope. Alcohol bottles half filled and empty scattered the floor below her. Her body swayed and dangled from the ceiling fan, cause her floral dress to breeze up. Tears casually slid down her cheeks, smearing her horrid makeup. The devastation in my heart rose from the shadows and I screamed.
I shut out the memory like I shut out everything else. My mother's lawyer was coming over soon to discuss where and how I was going to live. Tossing the heavy blanket from my body, I rolled out of bed and stood. My sweatshirt dangled past my shorts while I rubbed my eyes. Buzzing snatched my attention to my phone, it was lit up and blurring my vision.
Rubbing my eyes one last time, I laid back on my bed, taking my phone off its charger. The brightness dimmed to keep my eyes adjusted. It was Ryan who had texted me, my mother's lawyer. Squinting slightly, I read the words carefully.

Ryan
I'm outside your house, it's 2375 Stagrid Road right?

He was right, I sighed and tossed my phone back on my bed. Throwing on my jacket, I jogged down the steps but paused. The painful experience rummaged through my mind. My feet moved at a quicker pace toward the door. Opening it, I spotted a jet black car parked in the driveway, a man inside on his phone.
This man spotted me and we locked eyes, he seemed to be Ryan. Placing his phone down, he opened the car door and stepped out gentlemen-like. His outfit complimented his car nicely, a black dress shirt with a pair of black dress pants. Ryan started up the driveway, around his car, and to my front steps. I looked down in fear that he was going mention me broke, living on the streets, begging others.

"I'm sorry about your mother Shelby." He spoke over the silence that suffocated the air around us. I stayed still and quiet like a stone wall, he heavily sighed. "She was a good woman, in the wrong life." Nodding at the statement, I let him inside and followed him, shutting the door behind us. Ryan sat down on the largest couch while I was sat in a small recliner, he eyed the state of the home, how it was incredibly empty compared to before.

"Well, I suppose you know why I'm here?" I nodded and locked my multi-colored eyes with his deep, grey ones. "What's going to happen?" He flipped through a slim, pale colored folder that was sat carefully upon the coffee table. "Well, I've been digging around, and I haven't found much." My heart rate accelerated, beads of sweat formed on the back of my neck under my hair. This was it, I was homeless, I couldn't manage anything in a small house, how the hell am I supposed to manage on the street?

"You're going to be staying with your brother, Josh-" I stopped him in his speedy tracks. "Brother? I don't have a brother." He chuckled. "Yes you do, Joshua Bradley, he is 25 years old." I was only 22. "When your parents separated before you were born, your father had gotten custody of Josh. Your mother never told you?"

I shook my head as tears suffocated my eyes, begging to be let free. "I know this is hard." After that subtle statement, tears broke loose and my eyes only became known as waterfalls. "I'll contact Mr. Joshua Bradley to let him know everything that happened." I broke my stare from the floor and searched through the tears for his eyes.

"Does he know about me?" Ryan closed the folder and sat it safely next to him. "Yes, your father refused him from making contact with you, having the feeling that your mother had brainwashed you against him." I nodded and stood shakily, wiping my tears from my horrid, upset face. "Pack up, your flying to London tomorrow."
