chapter 2: friendship
Cloves POV
I just had to get an xray on my ankle. Thank goodness its just a sprain. Cato offers to take me over to his place. I agree, he's telling me about his 3 year old sister, O'keefe.
I want to learn more about Cato, I itch to make converstation
"So how old are you?" I ask
"Eight, nine this month" he replies. So he's a june kid
"What date?" I ask again.
"The 2nd" he replies "What about you?" He asks
"May the 12th" I reply
"Thats in 2 days!!" He shrieks, but we finally arrive at his monstrously large house.
Cato knocks on the door. A girl, she looks about 11 opens the door.
"Oh" she sniggers "its you"
Cato rolls his eyes and heads upstairs holding my arm,
"Mom!! Cato brought home a girl" the girl at the door whines.
"Oh shut up Makenner!" Cato sighs. We walk to a room, and we sit on his bed.
"Shes Macenner, shes 11" Cato informs me
"Is she always like that?" I ask, trying not to sound rude.
"Yes, ever since her crush went in the games last year, he was in the final 5, until the boy from 4 stuck him with his spear"
"Oh" is all i say.
"Cato Hadley!!" I hear someome screech. Footsteps approach his room, and a middle aged women, and the so called Macenner, and young O'keefe come in the room.
"Who is thi-" His mother begins
"Clove, and shes my friend so shut up Macenner" Cato says, I sit there looking at my feet. This was really awkward.
Cato asks them to leave, and after alot of convincing they do.
Cato's POV
Clove and I lay on my bed chatting, until 5pm, she decided to go home. Once she leaves, I plan to get her something for her birthday. Then I remember her telling me that she collecffs cemeriac animals, and likes lockets. I'll head into the market tomorrow and buy her the gifts.
