Counsellors. To some people the thought of going to a counsellor makes them shivver. I used to think of the kind of people you saw in movies where you lie down and speak about how bad your life was whilst an old looking person took notes. The truth was, these people are brillient !

Going to a counsellor in my oppinion is not a thing to be ashamed of, it is a thing to make you feel strong. You are strong for talking about how you feel. And you dont have to speak about bad things all the time !!

However, sometimes some counsellors just dont work for us. It is very important to have a counsellor who you feel you can relate to in order to make the experience more relaxed.

This advice was given to a wonderful young lady who explained how she felt as though she was getting nowhere with a counsellor she had been speaking to for several years.

Maybe you need to think about speaking to another counsellor,

I had three different ones until I found one I felt comfortable with and who actually helped me. My first one just sat and listened so I thought he was helping but really I was getting nowhere, the next woman was older and I felt like she had no idea what I was feeling, then the next was so bubbly that I felt happy talking to her... Thing is though for some reason I never told her completely what had happened to me.

The problem was, for me I went from one abusive relationship into well the arms of a man who was in a gang, so with that councillor all I ever did was talk about my immediate problems.

What really helped me was having good friends.

So remember that im here for you!

Whenever you want to talk, you can tell me as much or as little as you like, even if you just need cheering up, here I am! :D
