I quietly walked down the stairs of my two story house. I slowed my breathing as I tried to not wake anyone up.

I finally reached the bottom of the stairs and I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding. I turned to enter the kitchen to sneak out the back door.

When I reached the kitchen I saw my two older brothers at our kitchen table staring at me. My blue eyes widened as I let out a small gasp.

My oldest brother by two years, James, stood up and pulled out the chair across him that was across from him and my other brother who was older than me by 8 months, Shane. This was only possible because we were wolf shifters and females were only pregnant for 5 months.

They stared at me attentively as if waiting for me to say something. I still didn't sit down I walked across the kitchen silently. I opened a cabinet to get a glass so I could fill it with water and pretend that's the only reason why I am downstairs.

As I walked over to the refrigerator I snapped
"Why are you looking at me like that?!?" As I turned around to glare at them.

They looked at each other and I could tell they were mind linking one another by the way their eyes glazed over. After a few seconds they looked at me and Shane gestured for me to sit down.

I filled up my glass with water and I sat down across from them. As I waited for them to speak I raised my eye brows after a few more minutes of awkward silence.

Shane finally asked "We know you and Katie were going to train with Gregory tonight. Don't deny it."

I opened my mouth to reply when James glared at me to keep my mouth shut. I just glared at him in response and couldn't help thinking about when I was really close to my brothers but when James was in fifth grade him and Shane thought they were "too cool" to hang out with a girl and it was even more embarrassing for them to hang out with their little sister.

James stood up suddenly and walked over to my side of the table he bent down and harshly grabbed my bag from my hands. I tried to not look nervous. I failed. I bit my lip to stop it from trembling.

James placed my black backpack on the table and slowly opened it. He then pulled out my black hoodie, a binder, a pencil pouch I used for school, and some black stencils varying in size.

Shane looked at me confused as to why I would have these random objects in my backpack. He then confirmed it by asking me why.

I stared at him with a bored expression and sighed. " I was going to meet Katie and Gregory so we could study for a test tonight. They don't understand the material and need some help."

"Then why didn't you tell Dad or even Mom where you were going?" James replied.

"Like I would be stupid to ask. They would never allow it."

"How do you know? I'm allowed to even go to clubs. Dad would be fine with you studying with your friends."

I laughed. "Are you that stupid? He would NEVER allow it. You think you know how it's like to be a woman in this society. Well you don't know shit. It's awful. I'm told to go to school, but I'm told I'm supposed to be stupid. Never to outshine a male. Have female friends. Never be rude or cuss. I'm constantly ridiculed and told my only purpose is to serve my mate. Be submissive. Never have an opinion and to never, ever talk back to a male. I'm not even allowed to learn self defense!"

I quickly shoved my stuff into my backpack and walked out of the house.
