Awakened by a knock on the window, she looked to the bitter face of the sky. Intrigued by the song of raindrops, she put her slippers on, took a cup of cold coffee and left the room. She opened the balcony door, still half asleep, trying to think.
It is not the first time something woke her up. Or is it someone. Any efforts to ignore the sounds or get rid of thoughts that are littering her head had gone down the drain. And here she is again, in the balcony. Drinking her coffee, thinking. Thoughts weaving into a spider web, tangling her brain...
She does not understand why the sky burst into tears. Perhaps the crazy wind disturbed its peace. Maybe the sky's sad? Sad, because it no longer sees the light. The light, that would keep her co... That would keep *its* company, when the sun goes down.
He did not show up tonight. Just like yesterday. Not sure if he will show up tomorrow. Feeling the bitter taste of coffee grounds in her mouth, she comes back to reality. From the train of thoughts that goes thousands of miles each day, and never arrives. To a realization that hit her like a punch in the nose. To a silence so loud, she can hear nothing else.
The sky is dark. The rain is pouring. She is here. Now. With a cup of cold coffee. Yesterday is no longer here. Tomorrow was never going to happen.
