"I'm so excited" cheered Rachel merrily.
She and Kirsty were walking down a stony path on their way to the first of senior high . Vibrant yellow daisies and dandelions lined the path. It was a beautiful cloudless day, the sun seemed brighter than usual.
"So am I" replied Kirsty, smiling happily.
Kirsty and her friend Rachel had been looking forward to senior high all summer! Last week they managed to buy new school uniforms and stationary for school despite Jack Frost's attempts to meddle. Kirsty and Rachel had helped Clem the Crimson Fairy and Orlando the Ochre Fairy find their magical pendants stolen by Jack Frost's evil goblins. They hoped now that Jack Frost has given up trying to steal the Shade Fairies' magical pendants. They started walking a bit faster, excited to get to school.
Suddenly, Rachel froze.
"What's wrong?" asked Kirsty, looking curiously at Rachel.
"I thought I heard something moving in the bushes over here" whispered Rachel nervously.
The green leaves of the bush were swaying slowly in the breeze. Both girls listened quietly for a moment and then heard a loud rustle. Suddenly, a flash of sparkling yellow rushed out of the bush and flew right into Kirsty's face!
"I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" squeaked a fairy with stunning golden hair.
"Is that you, Sunny?" gasped Rachel, peering down to look at the Fairy now resting in Kirsty's open hands.
But this fairy wasn't Sunny. He had glimmering golden hair cut short and was wearing yellow shorts and a yellow shirt, a slightly different shade from Rachel and Kirsty's friend Sunny the Yellow Fairy.
The young fairy looked up and blinked slowly, shaking his head.
"No, sorry. My name is Sam the Saffron Fairy," he said.
"Well, I'm Kirsty and this is my Friend Rachel," she said, then remembered her manners. "Are you okay? Are you injured?"
Sam started giggling happily. "I know who you are, I've been looking for you! I can't believe I've found you!"
Kirsty and Rachel looked at each other for a moment, confused at what Sam was saying. They hoped he was alright and not in any trouble. Too many fairies have been in danger from Jack Frost. Rachel and Kirsty wished that Sam wasn't another one.
"Well, you found us!" grinned Rachel, still a bit shocked. "What can we do for you?"
Sam's whole body stilled and a shadow crossed his face.
"I need your help"
