This story is for Watty Awards, most of my other stories didn’t qualify because I started them last year. So please tell me if it’s worth pursuing or how I can improve.

Alexa'sbike on the side.

I’m not sure if I like the title. Do you?

Thanks for reading!

***Chapter 1: First Impressions***

I cursed and tossed around in my bed as the shouting across the hall from my room escalated. I angrily flung my blankets to the side and stormed out of my room to my brother’s room. I slammed the old wooden door open and the shouting became more comprehensible.

“Did you see that? That was a freaking head shot!” Vick fist pumped into the air, his tattoo sleeves shown proudly. Vick and Jack were slumped in black bean bags in a dark room lighted only by the TV screen that showed guys running around with guns. I glared at Vick’s buzzed cut head.

“Aw bull man.” My other brother, Jack, said bitterly. His dirty blonde hair hung in his face.

I stepped into the room and crossed my arms in frustration, “Shut the hell up!” I yelled, enraged.

They jumped. Startled. Then, Vick gave me a dirty look, his eyebrow piercing moving as he furrowed his brows at me.

“Chill man.” He threw at me and my blood boiled.

“Yeah. No big deal.” Jack smirked, his own lip ring glistening from the TV glow. I clenched my fists, all but wanting to pull their damn piercings out.

“No dammit. I have to get up at six in the morning to drive over to Trinity College, pick up my schedule and unpack. All you can do is give me this night, then you can be as loud as you freaking want!” I shouted, kicking one beer can, of many that littered the room.

Vick sighed in frustration but nodded reluctantly. He was the oldest at twenty- four, and he was an immature idiot; but occasionally he could be reasonable.

“Really?” Jack questioned in disappointment. He was twenty-two and had the mentality of a fifteen year old boy. I gave him a menacing look and he backed down; knowing that as a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I could kick his ass. “Fine.” He grumbled and they tossed the remotes on the floor, turned on the lights and turned off the Xbox.

I sighed in relief.”Thanks.” I mumbled and walked tiredly to my bed and did not wake up until my alarm screeched annoyingly right at six a.m. I cursed. I only got three damn hours of sleep. I stumbled out of my bed and tossed on some clothes, not caring what I looked like, just, making sure I didn’t go out naked. I brushed my teeth and went to our make-shift kitchen at the end of the hall.

The sun barely peaked through the curtains as I grabbed a bowl, milk and some Froot Loops. My favorite cereal.

“Feeling fruity Travis?” Vick remarked and I glared at him, not energized enough to curse him out.

“I’m surprised you’re up.” I stated. Usually they waited until noon to get up, just before their tattoo parlor opened. The tattoo parlor was actually located down stairs and our living area was upstairs. I lived only with my two brothers after our parents died in an accident.

“Figured we could say goodbye.” Vick shrugged carelessly, but I knew he would actually miss me. He pretty much became our guardian after our parents passed. He was ecstatic when I got a full scholarship to Trinity College for my grades. I was the only one who didn’t want to pursue a career as a tattoo artist; it was what our dad did and Vick and Jack too over. Instead, I followed more with my mom who was a nurse and chose to major in Pre-Med.
