'Palermo, Italy, 1283

People say that when they first came the night was coming and the clouds were enveloping the Sicilian town, bringing rain, bolts of lightning and spirits. Citizens were covering the heads hastening to their houses, holding onto their jackets as the sunset was leaving the day behind. That night might have seemed a night like the others, but it wasn't the case. They came with the darkness, quiet and sinister, without anyone knowing where they came from nor why they were there, and went from home to home, scaring the people, killing kids and sucking away their souls. They were called 'Charmeurs d'âmes'; it is said that French had brought them there from afar, for cursing Italian people and spread the terror, and that the blood flowing in their veins was black like pitch. With their long fingers made of wind, the monsters took people lives that night, and it was a so great massacre that citizens decided to run away from Palermo, leaving the city uninhabited and the streets deserted. The demons were stopped by no one, and diffused in the peninsula, heading to a greater bloodbath. Fear sculpted skeletal citizens face hidden in houses basements without any food, bodies in the street started to deteriorate under the burning sun, everyone thought that was the end. But suddenly, after several months, the hell ceased. The storm appeased bringing away with it the death, the first sunrise appeared in the blue Italian sky. In Sicilian alleys rumours nowadays run, people tell a story hand down for centuries about a valiant warrior with two purple eyes that with only a necklace with a stone on it and his courage fought against the demons, and succeeded to defend the citizens and trap the monsters in a catacomb, sealed in dead bodies that constituted their prison for years. This man, even though no one ever found anything about him, was called by everybody Jaques Rivière, the demons fighter. He disappeared that night, nothing else was found on his own.'

And Gerard Argent gazed at Tamora, trying to catch her frightened look, but the smile on her lips never disappeared. She knew what the old man was going to do, and she admitted that was scary, but the taste of the revenge towards Scott McCall's pack was too sweet, and the girl waited for months only to place a silver bullet on the wolfs brain. She nodded weakly with the arms crossed to her chest while he was heading to the dead body covered in cobwebs; the man still had the skin on his bones and the clothes undamaged even though they had been there for centuries. "Scott McCall is so naive," Gerard said, touching slightly with the blade the deceased face and letting the woman glimpse his bad tooth covered with a grin. "he's sure that we ran away like scared rabbits after he and his pack fought the Anuk-Ite" he continued, bursting into a malicious laughter, and smoothing the sharp knife on his jackets fabric, grasping it after that. "But what they don't know yet is that this is just the start of the ending." and without saying any other word he stabbed roughly the knife into the cadaver chest, walking away with the eyes wide open. A not distinct shape came out of the wound, almost like a ghost, ready to suck the old man's life away with a hand tense to his face. "Stop, Charmeur. We need your help." Argent whispered while the spirit was observing him with the mouth wide open and two deep and dark eyes. He was huge and Tamora had to step back to watch him better while Argent spoke to him in French. It didn't really have a shape nor a face, and its fingers were long and tapered, pointed to Argent's forehead. The ghost released soft and icy sighings, like laments, forming little clouds made of breath. The old man grinned one more time, as if he had found an answer to his questions, and closed the dark jacket by its buttons. "I love dealing with you," he admitted, taking off the knife from the body and starting to stab every cadaver in that catacomb, letting out the spirits trapped inside. His face darkened and his grin grew. "Now you are free, go and kill all of the supernatural creatures that will hinder your path," he shouted raising his arms high and watching the demons escaping and fading in the night haze. Monroe was stunned and watched the dark sky decorated with bright dots while the old man was coming out from the underground catacomb. "Come on, Monroe, you won't tell me that you got scared of some ghosts, will you?" Gerard gave a nudge in the woman's ribs, and she turned around tightening her lips and shaking her head. "Of course not." she lied. Argent started walking without saying a word and waited for her to talk again. "It's now time to go to Beacon Hills, dear. The place where everything started. The final show will be there." he smiled, showing her his yellow teeth, and scanned her face waiting for an answer, that never came.
