Elena sat in the back seat of the Impala, the blackness of the night left room for her mind to wander. One memory always played through her mind at the worst of times. The night she'd gone to a party against her better judgement, her then boyfriend Matt brought up the idea of the future and she freaked. Her parents had a happy marriage, so when Matt brought it up she should have been excited. Yet she felt the empty feeling in her chest when he'd brought it up, and that caused her to run. A phone call to her mother was all it took, one call that would change their lives.

"You okay back there?" Dean calls over his shoulder, not loud enough to wake Sam who was sleeping in the passenger seat. Elena cleared her throat as she sat up a little straighter, how did she answer that? "How would you be if someone took Sam?" She countered, Kelly was the only family she had left. "She's all I have, you know?" Elena added before meeting Dean's gaze in the rear-view mirror. "Yeah, I uh- I get that." Dean replied, his tone suggested he actually did know the feeling. "Do you really think you guys can find her?" She asked, hope lightly laced in her voice. Dean sucked in a deep breath, he didn't know what to tell the girl. There was no guarantee that he could find her, but they'd try as hard as they could. "We are going to try." He admitted, his emerald eyes glued to the slick highway. Elena slumped back in her seat, no guarantee that she'd ever see Kelly again. Tears began to prick the backs of her chocolate brown eyes as she closed them.

The sun began peeking over the horizon when they'd finally pulled over at a motel. It wasn't the nicest motel, but they didn't plan on staying there long. Elena was relieved when she'd climbed out of the backseat, her long legs stretching as she watched Dean disappear into the front office. All Elena had was her purse and the clothes on her back. Her black leggings clung to her legs, while Kelly's college sweatshirt hung over her torso. Although she noticed Sam and Dean packed pretty light as well. Her gaze scanning over the bags in Sam's hands, what she wouldn't give for a change of clothes. "We can get you some clothes and stuff." Sam assured her, as if he'd known was she was thinking. Elena didn't say anything, a small appreciative smile played on her lips though.

"Two rooms." Dean announces as he approaches the pair, two room keys in each of his hands. "Elena, you're in three. Sam, you and I are in four." He tacks on before handing Elena her key, and heading towards the numbered doors. Elena was grateful to have her own room, once that door shut behind her she couldn't hold it in any longer. The tears she'd been holding back for so long began trailing down her cheeks, her legs crumpled beneath her as she fell into the nearby chair. Small sobs wracking her body as she felt the emptiness inside her chest grow, it was like losing her parents all over again. How were they meant to find a demon? She'd never dealt with anything like this before, where did she even start? Her train of thought halted by the timid knock on the door. Her hand quickly swiped away the tears that stained her cheeks, although it was for nothing because her eyes and nose were already red.

She pulled the door out of the way revealing Dean standing in front of her. "Hey Sam said-" His sentence was cut off by her appearance, she'd obviously been crying. "Are you okay?" He asked, his tone softer than before. Elena sniffed back the feeling that she was going to lose it again. "Yeah, I'm fine. Did you need something?" Elena asked, her small body leaning against the door frame. "Sam said you needed some clothes. I was going to go get food, I figured I'd stop by and see if you wanted to come- but I can see you're not up for it so I'll go." He explains, his gaze scanning over Elena. He felt sorry for the poor girl, he couldn't imagine what he'd be like in her situation. Losing Sam would be one of the worst things to happen to Dean, it'd happened before but never permanently. "I'll go." Elena replied softly, she needed to get out of her thoughts for a little bit. She trusted that Sam and Dean had a plan, what made her trust them was beyond her but she did.
