Destruction

I sat in the pod with my family Jem and James sat bickering with each other upon petty matters. Mum and dad were panicking. The AI mind of the ship beeped before revealing our data stats. A transparent screen scanned me before processing it before me.

I dismissed the AI and clicked on the media button. The list of films showed up. Hmm... Which one should I watch? I glanced over at mum who was shakily crying. She turned to dad and weeped, "I... We worked so hard for that house. Studied so hard for that job. Do you think everything will be okay on the new planet?"

"Of course it will." He replied but he seemed doubtful at his own words. The twins Jem and James glanced at each other than me.

"Hey, at least it's a fresh start for all of us!" I struggled to remain optimistic about the situation and watched the movie.

The ship started to vibrate and rumble vigorously. The PA announced,"Please wear your seat belts. If there are any problems please ask your AI systems for support." The same command was repeated in the other languages. The only languages now were mandarin, Spanish, French and English. Once we reached the New Planet, we would speak just English. The ship rose and Earth was a lot smaller. The tall towers looked like weak twigs. Suddenly, the AI started flashing red. I looked out of the window and gasped. An asteroid zoomed past the ship and crashed into the Earth. Waves of dust and fire warped the ground. What happened to the animals? I asked the AI the question. Luckily, the Arc (name of the space ship) had taken four animals of each species. The Arc was amazing, white cushioned seats, tvs, everything. When the time came to sleep, they would blast sleep gas into the sleep pods, especially during turbulence. Unfortunately, some animals and people couldn't be saved...

I watched the Earth as clouds of dust swarmed the atmosphere choking the trees, people and animals. I turned away and tried to focus on the film rather than the world being destroyed beneath my feet...
