Just as she reaches the door with half her arms through the sleeves of her jacket, she backtracks to grab the tray off of Mama who just entered and put it on the table. Then, she picks up some cookies and throws them at us.
Rachel easily catches one, and another on her right hand, smirking at me when my cookie sails past my raised hand and onto the floor behind the couch. I shoot Keira a dark glare while she wrings her red hands before I stand up to bury my cookie.
Ara glares at Rachel, just as Mama Jean is dragged away by Keira. "That's my cookie."
"Nope. Caught them with my bare hands." Rachel tosses her a wide-eyed, smug look.
I grab a tissue on the table and go around the couch to pick up--I gasp, the tissue flying down to meet the crumbled body of Mr. Cookie.
"Mr. Cookie... Keira shall pay for what she's done." I grimace, carefully picking each piece of the glorious goodness.
"What school did she say she's rolling us into?"
"I don't know. The last thing I heard is Angelbury." Arabella shrugs before her eyes turn dark. "Where angels are buried."
"Not an angel." Rachel puts both hands up, looking happily confident.
"Including fake ones." Arabella narrows her eyes.
That gets to her, and my prediction comes true. Rachel tackles her and they roll off the couch sideways. The stupid thing is, they stop near the table and Ara, who's on top, grabs a cookie to shove it in Rachel's mouth. While she's munching, Ara takes another to put in her mouth before they continue their rolling.
How childish is that? Funny thing is, they look like babies calmly munching on pacifiers while playing around on the floor. The nasty, germ-infested floor.
Oh, that reminds me.
"You know Keira dropped her vegetable soup there a few hours ago, right?"
"Ugh, why does she even eat that thing?" Ara groans, propping herself up from under Rachel who slumps her body onto her without a care in the world.
It's like she's gone into Rachel Land, on a high from cookies.
"Eating too many sweets cause you to reject the idea of healthy food--its rival." I tsk at her.
"Sweets are better than veggies." Ara drawls, stalking back to the couch after pushing Rachel off of her, leaving her on the floor. "I'm not betraying sweets."
"You won't be saying that again if your teeth start aching."
"They don't heal toothache."
"ON the contrary-"
"Honey, I love you. Don't make me want to punch you." Ara says with restrained anger flowing out of her mouth in a long whistle.
I snap my mouth shut and enjoy the pierce of the beautiful sound.
Ara opens her eyes and her eyes widen, "You know I won't punch you, right? Are you mad? Talk to me, Ne-"
"Nah, you broke the peace." I grumble, sinking my back into the couch.
《☆》
"We're baaack~!"
The door slams open and we all jump up, groaning, grunting, and huffing respectively.
"So..." a rare smile lights up on Arabella's face and she leans forward, hands on her knees, "Angelbury High?"
"Accepted. We're officially changing jobs." Keira announces with her hands on her hips.
"From Old School students to New School students?" Rachel slings an arm around the back of the couch.
"Nope."
"Did you eat all the cookies? Oh, never mind. Why do I even ask." Jeanna states more than asks, grabbing the tray off the table.
"We're helping you, Jeanna!" Rachel shouts, waving a hand.
"Did you give all the basic papers and-"
Keira waves a hand, brushing off my question as she turns the TV on. She easily throws herself between Rachel and I.
"Yeah, yeah. Ooh, Blood Blockade Battlefront is on!" She bounces on the couch, making Rachel and I lean her way.
"There's so much blood in that show." Mama Jean's voice drifts over from the kitchen, the sound of the stove turning on registered by my brain.
"I know, but it's part of the humor."
We all look at her, slowly creeping away with alerted looks. Keira must've realized, because she turns her innocent, green eyes to each of us.
"What?"
"For a seemingly harmless girl, you sure pack a sick humor." I arch my brow suspiciously.
"Should we get a restraining order... ?" Arabella leans towards me, her lips twitching, giving away her hidden laughter.
"Depends..." I trail off, rubbing my chin as I watch an incredulous Keira through narrowed eyes.
"I meant, the humor sometimes revolve around blood... I mean, the amount of blood continuously pouring out of a guy's nose is-" as she explains, a smile pops up.
And that's enough for us to dart up the stairs, leaving Keira who whines.
"Mommy! They're picking on me!"
"No, we're not!" We yell out simultaneously.
"I'm busy!" Jeanna shouts back. "And I'm not a judge!"
《The next morning...》
"WAKE UP!"
I scream, sitting up abruptly and covering my ears. I scream even louder when I come face to face with a murderous bunny mask.
Wait, rewind. The heck?
I scramble to flip on the light, panting and out of breath. I'm still deciding whether it'd be safe to bash their head or whimper like a helpless soon-to-be victim.
With my heart on my--no, excuse my panic. With my hand on my heart, I face the truth.
Green, cat-like eyes blink at me and I furrow my brows. She slips the pink mask consisting of fake whiskers and a bunny nose, and a sheepish smile rises afterwards.
I realize she's in a bunny costume. Pink. Complete with the standing ears. Oh, and the mask.
I pinch the bridge of my nose and slowly inhales.
"What's wrong with you... Early Bunny?"
She hops from one foot to another, smiling like a lunatic. Before she has the chance to answer, feet stomp closer to my door.
It's silent before the break of my door. It literally falls off of its hinges, no thanks to Rachel's flat, socked foot.
She and Arabella lose their high-strung expressions, Ara dropping her silver and blue baseball bat.
"Keira..." Mama Jean sighs from the door, earning our attention, "we've talked about the proper way to wake people up."
"Well, this is more fun." Keira reasons. "And besides-"
She turns to me and smiles deviously. I just watch her boredly with palms on my cheeks, propping my elbows on my legs as I hunch over, then... she says the words no nerd ever wants to hear.
"We're late."
I freeze. In the next second, I find myself wrestling the bedsheet and getting my feet tangled up with them when I try to step over it, resulting in my falling to the floor in the most ungraceful way ever-the usual Lynn way.
I blink, getting out of my stupor quickly. I look up at Jean's worried face, Keira's confused one, Arabella's blank expression, and Rachel's foot-eating, door-wrecking smirk.
"MOVE IT, PEOPLE!" I jump to my feet and start pushing them out, starting with the huge bunny in the room.
Heh. Get it?
