I'm Tip and I am eleven years old, I live in New York City. I stay with my mom, Denise, in a small apartment. It may not seem like much but it's home, I don't usually complain because I am not the picky sort. But, if I could choose to live anywhere, it would be in my old house down in Texas. My daddy built that house himself, before he, well, passed away. We were driving in our old truck, when suddenly another driver hit us, that's all I can remember from that night. Next thing I knew I woke up in the hospital, the bright lights piercing my eyes, and the continuous beeping of some machine next to me made it even  more unpleasant. But that was a year ago, now things are different, me and my mom had to move to New York to seek out more opportunities. Mama believed that this whole incident with my daddy was a sign from God that we need to get moving.

I didn't really understand my mama then, but a week later a huge tornado swept right in to our old town and destroyed everything. This was a year before the apocalypse.

We live in a small area of New York, called a terminal. It's this big bubble that surrounds a certain amount of space, it supplies us with oxygen. Our population grew too much and we created so much pollution that there is no clean air anymore outside of our terminals. Our world is a desert waste land, the walls of the terminal are clear so I can just about see everything around our bubble. I see old rotten looking sand and dirt, even the wind is aging like the rest of our worn out earth, as it coughs and groans making the dust and debree float everywhere. I can just make out in the distance, large dry tree trunks that were once used when they were more plentiful to create wood planks. The sky is pale and the sun is red, looking as if it would go out any second. Otherwise, there is no other life form that can survive this apocalypse.

My mama is brave, she does everything she can to help us survive and she even tries helping out to clean up our land a bit. She started an organization called the S.O.P, or the "Save Our Planet" project. We got a lot of people to join, almost a million! She has worked so hard on this that she quit her job to devote herself entirely to the organization!

We have cleaned up quite a bit of the land, but clearly not enough..
