It was a warm summer day in the otherwise grey London when a cheery little girl moved in next door to a playful boy.
He looked out of his window as her and her parents moved in to their new flat. Her little brown locks flowing in the wind, her face rosy and pale.
She had his heart right in that moment.
His mom called out from downstairs for him to come meet his new neighbour and he jumped from the window sill, running excitedly down the stairs. He held his mother's hand as they approach the new people and waved at the girl. She hid behind her mom's dress but peeked her head out to give a toothy smile to the boy. The parents continue to talk amongst each other and the boy asks her if she wants to play. She looks up at her mom who nods with a smile and runs after the boy to his back garden. They play hide and seek, they share treats and jokes only they could understand.
The parents scheduled a play date in the park for the next day noticing their budding friendship. Next day on the playground he sat her down on swing set behind the sandbox. He wiped his sweaty little hands on his jeans and shyly looked down at her. She giggled and asked for him to push her swing so she could fly. He laughed with her and went behind her, knowing he would do whatever she wanted. They continue to play as the parents look out from the benches around the playground. At the end of the day the boy noticed how tired she had gotten and told her shed carry her back. She protested but his stubbornness won and with mighty pride he carried her on his back wheezing his way through. Her mother laughed when she saw her sleeping daughter and took her from the little boy. They all walked back together as he excitedly described their day out. She woke up once they made it to the house and he asked if he could walk her to his room. She shyly smiled and nodded her head. Once they made it to his room he smiled at her and asked 'Best friends forever?' He put his hand out waiting for her to shake it and she beamed at him 'Forever'.
