I thought that this week was going to be an average week with that weekend ending up being me stuck at home doing loads of homework. I guessed the opposite of right. This entire week has managed to turn my life from one of a rich "popular" girl to one of a girl struggling to survive.
It all started on Tuesday when I went to lunch fifth period. Now here's what you have to understand, I sit with the girls who most people in my senior class consider "popular". I never have liked the label of being a popular girl, but I guess I got it because my best friend just so happens to be Jenny Knavely, the supposedly most popular girl my age. Jenny has it all, a rich family, a huge house, blah blah blah, you get the drift. We've been best friends since we were kids because our parents managed to marry each other in a way. So here's this. My mom and Jenny's mom were best friends and our dads were best friends and now it's a tangled web of mush to explain. So anyway, that day at lunch Jenny announced to our table(and practically the entire cafeteria) that she was going to be throwing a huge winter party at her parents barn in the mountains. There was going to be a DJ, tons of food, and all the stops to make this party one that'll be remembered for years to come. She always likes to throw huge parties where memories are made and only those who are somebody are invited.
I, being her best friend, got invited to this amazing party. I wasn't too thrilled about this party at first because Jenny always likes to throw huge parties like this that always end up with me leaving early because someone decides to take the party to the wrong side (if you know what I mean). I've never been one who was into that kind of party and I'm not one for big social events. I've always been super shy and socially awkward. But this party seemed like it was going to be tons of fun so I thought, Why not?
I went home after musical practice that night and made sure to 1.) tell my parents and 2.) put it on my calendar. I had to make sure I picked out the right outfit for the party or I'd look ridiculous and get ostracized for the rest of my senior year for showing up to thee party in a ridiculously dumb outfit.
The talk of the entire week was about Jenny's party on Saturday night. Everyone wanted to be invited but Jenny being Jenny only invited a select group of people, all of which were considered the "popular kids". I know I keep referencing them with quotations but that's because I feel popular is such a misinterpreted word. People consider themselves popular if they have certain aspects that will never matter when you get into society as an adult human being. But, whatever, until I go to college I have to deal with them. Everyone was so excited and those who weren't invited were trying their absolute hardest to please Jenny and attempt at getting on the guest list for this party.
Jenny, as I said, has always been my good friend but we don't always get along. She thinks she is the cream of the crop and sometimes it gets to her Tarte Cosmetics covered head. Jenny seems to think that since she is a soccer star and I am a music star that those are two different levels of stardom. She likes to make sure at all times that she is overtop of me in the social ladder though we are both stars in our own right.
Anyway, enough about my rocky relationship with my best friend. This party was going to be huge, like Donald Trump huge. I (and the entire school) was getting more and more excited as the week went on and Jenny was giving us all these amazing details about all that was going to go on at this party (ping pong, live DJ, chocolate bar, etc) and then Friday came. It came quicker than you could say molasses cookies. I was at the point where I just wanted the weekend to start because that night I had planned a movie night with my boyfriend Finch. His real name is Xavier but he likes to go by Finch. We're playing Maria and Captain in the Sound of Music for our school. I had a huge movie night planned and I was just so excited to get to spend it with him. I knew right away as the week came to a close that it was going to be a fun weekend!
