Even until Morning

Start from the beginning

Drem couldn't stop gazing at it, though, no matter how painful it was. She had given him an exceptional gift. He continued to stare at her beautiful face and couldn't thank her enough. Still, her truth wasn't his, but, now, he could see her vulnerable self.

The girl before him was a lover of the arts. She desired to bring a smile to those around her. Even after everything that he had done to her, she came around and worked to bring countless smiles to his face. Maybe, she would never admit to that goal of hers, but she had brought him closer to the stars and gave him a wider view of the world beyond the house.

Despite the rough mask that she would usually wear, she had now stripped herself of that and had shown him the kind soul that lived beneath it. That touched his heart beyond any lie that she could've told him. Gently, he moved the monkey from her hands and moved closer to her. She seemed startled at first but relaxed when he wiped the few tears going down her cheeks.

Drawing his hands back, he wrote. Thank you. I appreciate you giving me the truth. For tonight, though, will you let me hold your hand? I know that my cold touch is unpleasant to you, but will you grant that wish?

A light chuckle and roll of the eyes was her first response. Smiling some, she extended out her right hand. "I suppose that I can give you that."

Returning an unseen smile, he intertwined his left fingers with hers before he looked up to the stars once more. Out of the corners of his eyes, he saw her gaze up at them as well. Feeling at peace, he paid full attention to the twinkling lights with his love.

Within a few more hours, she had fallen asleep on him. She had even leaned towards him, but she couldn't fall on his shoulder. His love couldn't cuddle into him. Instead, he had to hold her up with his capabilities. With her asleep, he went off of the roof and managed to lift her into the air and off of the roof as well.

In some respects, it was odd how he was able to do such a thing. His power hadn't diminished as she grew accustomed to him or as her fear diminished some. He could still sense fear in her from time to time, but it wasn't as strong as in the beginning. Did his abilities strengthen on both ends, on fear and love? That sounded rather cheesy to him, and he hadn't believed that in the beginning.

Then again, Nathan probably did think him incapable of the emotion, so he had probably made that one of the ones that he could feed off of, but his love didn't love him. So, that logic wouldn't make sense. Maybe, he fed off her energy in general and had misplaced that for feeding off of fear in the beginning. The longer that he stayed around someone, the stronger he grew in his power. Nathan had most likely never anticipated him getting out of the clock, so he had probably never worried about that possibility. Whatever the reason, he was just glad that he could lift his love off of the roof and not have her plummet to the ground on accident.

Once he had her inside, he tucked her in and held onto her hand a little longer before he headed off into the garage. Tomorrow, everything would be ready. He was committed to his plan, and he wouldn't let Nathan refuse. He didn't want to leave her alone in the night, though, but he had things to prepare.

Morning came quicker than he imagined, but he had finished everything in time. When he exited the garage, he found his love already setting her things by the front door. He wasn't expecting her to wake up so early. Her beautiful (e/c) eyes looked over to where he was standing, and she headed into the kitchen as he closed the garage door.

Grabbing a pen and notepad, he began to write. So, how long until Nathan arrives?

"He should be arriving soon. I believe in the next few minutes. I'm frankly just worried about how he'll react. I doubt that he expected us to ruin his house some," she chuckled out, and he assumed that she was trying to lighten the heavy mood in the air.

Yes, his facial reaction will be most amusing. Maybe, we should take a picture.

"I would like that, but, Drem, are you going to show me the finished product of that doll that you were working on?"

Hmm, I decided to show you on your next visit. It will entice you to come back after all. I can't have you sneaking off on me, my love.

"You should know by now that I intend to visit you, and I'll finish that mural for you. I'll also do my best to ensure that Nathan lets you stay in that room. I imagine that he'll be furious, but I'll still try for you."

Both of them heard a car pull up, and Drem tensed some. He could tell that his love froze slightly as well. The car pulled up into the driveway, and she looked back to him. "Looks like he came sooner than expected," she voiced quietly as a small smile touched her lips. "I guess that it's time to argue your case, right?" she mentioned before she turned around and headed for the front door.

Before she got too far, however, he went after her and grabbed her right hand with his left hand. She jumped some and looked back. "Drem, I know that you don't want me to go, but we already discussed ..." He didn't allow her to finish her statement and crashed his lips against hers. Her eyes widened, and she tried to pull back, but he wouldn't allow her to.

Rather, he wrapped his right arm around her waist and drew her closer. "I'm so sorry, but I'm selfish too, my love," he breathed out softly against her lips before he continued to kiss her. Right now, he needed this; he needed to kiss her like this one last time. That's all he needed.
