Luke's POV
I hesitate.
I understand not telling her. It preserves our friendship until we either decide to tell her or both move on, but I also feel like telling her could just get all of this out in the open. I wish I had it in me to let that one happen. I can't handle the rejection and confrontation yet. so...
"Alright Cal, no one tells Kat about anything."
He nods, "It's not fair to tell her, Justin just dumped her and she can't be in a great emotional place. I really don't think that finding out her two best friends are in love with her is really going to heal her broken heart."
"I get it Cal, I won't say anything if you won't. We'll just be the three best friends we've always been."
"Sweet man. We'll get through this. We might have to face it later, but for now, we both stay quiet."
We both nod and go our seperate ways.
I walk down the hall towards the exit sign. Then I feel a tap on my shoulder, I whirl around to see a short girl with black hair, cute brown eyes, and glasses looking up at me.
She says, "Hi Luke, I know we haven't talked much, we've been in classes together since kindergarten and I know this is a little weird, but I noticed you looked a little bummed today and you were kind of not hanging out with Calum and Kathryn," hearing their names together makes me flinch a litle, but she continues. "I know that sounds super creepy, but I've kind of just noticed you since we were little, you seemed nice and I thought that maybe if you needed someone to talk to since it didn't like your best friends were an option I figured I'd offer."
"Wow," is all I can manage.
"I'm so so so sorry, i freaked you out didn't I? I really didn't mean to i just wanted to help. I'll just let you go then and-"
"No," I say, cutting her off. "It's fine, you just said so much so fast, I didn't quite process everything. Thanks, I appreciate the offer actually, it's cool that you wanted to help me out. I kinda don't know you though and I gotta go figure out how to still maintain friendships with those two. Maybe some other time then?"
I really do mean what I say to her, she seems super nice, and maybe having an outside opinion on the situation will help in the future,
Her face lights up a little.
"Cool!" she says, "I'm Amanda, by the way, sorry I should've started with that. Anyway, just let me know if you need anything or if you want to hang out or whatever."
"Thanks Amanda, it really means a lot."
"You're welcome, see you tomorrow, I guess."
"Bye."
I resume my walk towards the door. Ok, that may have been a little weird and she's kind of a complete stranger, but Cal has jock friends and I'm sure Kat must have friends she sails with. I'm so allowed to have my own friends too. Especially now, if I'm potenially going to lose one or two in the future.

Cal's POV
I'm on my couch playing bass. Then I remember, I probably have Kat and Luke over, I mean, we really have to keep pretending that everything's okay, for Kat's sake. She just got broken up with, we can't spring this all on her now. I realize that for this to keep on being normal, I should defintely text the other two so we can watch movies and check on Kat. So I do.
They're both over in record time. Neighbor's or not, it still takes them both awhile to get out of the house, even if it is just to hang out at mine. They come in at the same time. Kat sitting next to me and ruffling my hair. "Hi Calliepoo," she says as she does so. "DON'T CALL ME THAT! But hi Kathryn," I respond. Luke sits on the other side of her and asks, "So what are we watching?" A fair question, I hadn't really thought about it. "Well, I think, given the circumstances, we should let Kat pick. HOWEVER, there's no way in hell I'm sitting through John Tucker Must Die again."
"Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine," Kat says, "I'll pick a semi-manly movie so you guys don't lose any of your masculinity. How's Captain America sound?"
Captain America is Kat's favorite Marvel movie, she thinks that Chris Evans is the hottest Avenger. Luke and I are just glad she likes some sort of superhero movie so we aren't subjected to chick flicks all the time. Even though Luke would watch them anyway...ugh.
Luke and I exchange a glance and shrug.
He says, "Fine by me, it's not a chick flick and I'm always up for anything Marvel."
"You know I have a soft spot for movies based on comic books, I am SO DOWN!" I add, "LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!"
Luke gets up and puts the movie on and then sits back on the couch.
Kathryn's POV
I. Love. Chris. Evans. The boy is fine. He's definitely too old for me, but age is just a number. Just kiding, sort of. I love watching movies with Luke and Calum. Most people would probably say that it's a bit weird that one of my favorite things in the whole world is just sitting between these two and watching a movie. I really don't care, it makes me happy. I haven't even really thought about Justin too much either. Crap. I just did. He didn't really like that my two best friends were guys, I told him that they never felt that way and neither did I, but maybe he never believed me. THAT"S SO RUDE. You should trust your girlfriend! Even if she does just happen to have to guy friends. I have a seriously pissed off look on my face. Cal's super engrossed in the movie, he loves his comic books after all, but Luke is looking at me quizically.
"What?" I say.
"Nonthing, you just look super pissed that Stanley Tucci just made skimpy Chris Evans into super buff Chris Evans," he answers.
"Oh....my bad. Wow he's gorgeous. Anyway I was just thinking about how it sucks that I got dumped on the last day of summer." I sort of lie.
I know Luke and Calum would both feel terrible if they knew that they could have had any part in my break up.
"Oh Kat...it's ok, we still love you," Cal says, pulling his attention away from the movie.
"GROUP HUG!" Luke shouts and we wrap our arms around each other and just sit. It feels nice, then they're just hanging onto me and I'm being squished.
"HEY!! WILL YOU TWO PLEASE LET ME GO!?!" I yell.
"Yuo don't really want us to go, do you?" says Luke making puppy dog eyes.
"Yeah, you wouldn't make me leave my own house KitKat," Cal says before making a pouty face.
"Of course not, you two, I just need a little breathing room to finish watching my love, Chris Evans, save the day."
They finally agree and let go after that. Then we sit there on Cal's couch for the rest of the night.
