It's complicated

Chapter 1: Lucy's decision.

It's been three years since Lucy joined the guild, as she sat drinking her signature drink at the bar with the usual fights and playful trash talking she took time to reflect on the years that have passed by. One thing she noticed the most though...She has yet to go out on her own for a job, she has always been with either Natsu or the entire team. Everyone else has done a solo job, even Wendy! As Lucy contemplated to herself she got up from the bar and walked to the request board. As she looked over the requests, Lucy saw one that might be good for a solo mission and grabbed onto it to look once over the paper. It seemed simple enough, just five towns over needing a mage to look for a rare stone that belongs to the museums once it's found. Simple enough, no monster warnings, no danger or beware. It was perfect, as she got ready to put the request into Mira, a strong arm draped over her shoulders.

"Hey Luce, what job are we going at this time?" It was Natsu, one of the most destructive mages in Fairy Tail; don't get Lucy wrong Natsu was one of the best in the guild, but when it came to not destroying things...well that's another story. 

"We're not going on a mission! I am though!...I know its always fun when we're together, but I need to get some solo experience sooner than later. I mean I've been here for three years and have yet to go on a solo mission." Natsu gave her a quizzical look then turned away and began to pout. His pouting became obvious to the rest of the team, they casually walked over in a relaxed manner. 

"What's the fuss about Natsu?" Happy asked with a Cheshire smile on his face. 

"Yeah ash for brains, what's got you all worked up?" said Gray in his half-naked state. Natsu grumbled under his breath but began to speak before Erza lost her patience. 

"Lucy wants to go on a mission without us, I don't like the idea." Erza looked over to Lucy who had a nervous look on her face and smiled. 

"Why I couldn't think of a better idea, its good Lucy wants to go out on her own. It'll make her stronger." Natsu looked over to Erza in disbelief then back to Lucy who was now relaxed heading to Mira to accept the job. Natsu grumbled and pouted away as he watched Lucy leave the guild when a thought struck him. 

'Lucy said on her own, she never said anything about watching from afar.' A devilish grin slowly spread across his face as he snuck out of the guild to pack and follow Lucy to make sure her beautiful face...er valuable life stayed intact.
