Today is December 26, the day a young boy gets his first true starter and begins his journey around Kanto to become the Kanto champion. This boy is Richard Taylor, also known as "Red" by everyone else. Red is fast asleep in his room until his Pikachu alarm turns to 5:00 AM, which causes Red to slam his hand on his alarm clock, jump out of bed( literally) and begin dressing. Afterwards, he packs his clothes and other necessities into his backpack. He then runs into his living room, where his family's pet Pikachu, Electro, is fast asleep on the couch until...
"Electro! Get up! We have to hurry!" Red whispered/yelled. Electro jumped, luckily not making a sound.
"Sorry buddy. Anyway, let's go! We need to get to Professor Oak's lab before all the starters are gone!" Red said.
"....Pi?" Electro replied, as if to ask "Really?".
"Don't give me that look. Now come on!" Redanswered, picking Electro up and running out the door. Red ran for a good 20-30 minutes before arriving at Professor Oak's house. Red began to knock repeatedly on the door until a very tired Professor Oak opened the door.
"Who is it? Oh, what is, young man?" Oak asked.
"Hi! Hey Professor, can I get my starter now? I wanna get going as soon as possible!" Red exclaimed.
"....I suppose so." Oak replied before letting Red in. Oak led Red to a room that held many Pokeballs, with three standing out in particular. One was green, which Oak had said held the Grass type Pokemon Bulbasuar. The second was red and held Charmander, the fire type starter. the last one was blue, and it held Squirtle, which was a water type Pokemon.
"Now Red, choose whichever one you like." Oak said.
"Sweet! I've been thinking about this ever since me and mom talked about this, and I've decided that I want Bulbasuar!" Red shouted.
"Excellent choice! Now Red, you do know that taking care of Pokemon is a hard task?" Oak asked.
"Of course! I've been the one taking care of Electro ever since dad got that stupid 24 hour job." Red huffed.
"I see. Now I want to give you this here Pokedex and this Trainer Card. This Pokedex records all the Pokemon you've caught and seen and gives you information on them. This Trainer Card shows that you are a true trainer, since there are some people who pretend to be trainers in order to steal Pokemon." Oak explained before remembering three final things. "Ah! I almost forgot. I also want you to have some Pokeballs, potions, and this badge case. These Pokeballs can be used to catch Pokemon. These potion can be used to heal your Pokemon, though not by much. And finally, this badge case. This case will hold your badges, which that you have beaten a city's gym. You know what a gym and it's gym leader is, correct?" Oak asked.
"Sure do! Hey, can I name this Bulbasuar?" Red replied.
"Of course. Whenever you catch a Pokemon, you can give it a nickname. However, when you are given one, you cannot rename." Red face fell. "However, I will let you nickname it." Oak answered. Red, then frowned as he thought of a name. After a few minutes, he decided.
"Can I name it.....Leafy?" Red questioned.
"Of course." Oak said with a soft grin.
"Thanks! Shoot! It's almost 7:00! Come on Electro, let's get a move on!" Red exclaimed as he ran, with Electro close behind.
"Good luck, Red!" Oak Yelled as he waved goodbye.
Red's Pokemon:
Electro(male Pikachu), level 20. Moves: Thunder Shock, Quick Attack, Electro Ball, and Growl.
Leafy( female Bulbasuar), level 5. Moves: Tackle and Growl.
