Hide and Seek

Chapter 2

As I ran, I smelled something rotten and decaying. I lowered my head and looked around my surroundings.

The screams came back louder and the gang of three idiots came running towards me with a huge demon chasing them.

I sighed and rolled my eyes at the same time as I pulled out my sword. After the idiots ran past me, I slashed the demon's head. Its blood splattered everywhere and on me as well.

It gave out a loud screech before bursting into black flames and disappearing. I turned to look at the boys. They were still shaking in fear.

"Now who says there are no demons here?" I said, resting the sword on my shoulder.

"W-W-We didn't kn-know." Nelson stammered.

I frowned behind my mask and took a few steps towards them. "What do you mean by 'We didn't know'?"

I pointed my blood-stained sword at John. "Next time, think about it twice before saying something's not true."

He didn't answer but gave me a slight nod. I narrowed my eyes and sniffed the blood on my sword and my body. "Ugh, disgusting."

I shook the blood off my sword and took off my uniform. I wiped the blood off my face with the clean parts of the uniform and threw them away. I then, motioned my hand for the boys to follow me.

"Where we going?" Rudy asked nervously.

"Anywhere safe." I replied.

We headed to where I had left the two boys. I could sense that they're already further away.

"We better hurry up." I said to them and started running.

They ran with me instantly. It didn't take long for us to bump into another demon.

I clicked my tongue. "Get out of the way!" I yelled and sliced through it.

Like before, blood splattered everywhere around. I jumped up to avoid them, doing a back flip across the demon.

"Woah!" Rudy jumped when the blood hit him.

"Sorry bout that shortie." I said. "Had to be done. Unless you wear something underneath just take off your clothes."

We finally met up with other two a few moments later. Rudy, Nelson and John were already out of breath.

"Where were you?" Kyle asked. "And why are you guys covered in blood?"

"Demons, obviously. I manage to take down two of them but, there's still two more to go." I explained. "Well, actually three."

"What? R-Really?" Ethan said, wide eyed.

"Yeah. But anyway, I gotta separate from you guys." I said and paused for a bit. "And, beware of a little girl running around. She's gonna be the one who will kill you all. And spoiler alert, she's your sister Ethan."

"Huh?!" Ethan exclaimed.

"To be more accurate, she's a demon that took your sister's form." I said, and turned to Ethan. "Hey, I hope you trust me on this. Don't let temptation take over you when you see her cause if you do, we lose and everyone dies."

He nodded and paused for a while. "Hey, how'd you even know how many demons there are exactly and about my sister? Or rather, the form that the last demon is in."

The rest of them looked at me as well, clearly demanding an answer.

"I just happened to know. You can't sense them like I do. But trust me, it is a pain in the butt. But I can't explain knowing the last demon is bla, bla and bla." I finished getting myself ready and waved goodbye to them. "Whatever you do, don't make contact with her!"

Before they could say anything else, I ran as fast as I could.

As much as I don't like those creepy twins, I still have to help them. I'm just trying to finish my...job.
