"Elise get away from the stove!"

My mom was trying to keep me from being burnt, but being 6 years old, I touched the stove anyways.

Once I touched the stove, it. was as if my body had absorbed the heat instead of burning my hand.

My body suddenly felt way warmer than it should be. My mom then quickly ran over to me and pulled me up into her arms and off the stove.

"Never do that again Elise! I thought you were going to die!"

My mom looked at my hands and saw that they were not burnt but only warm.

"What the-"

Just then as my hand hit a piece of paper on the counter, it burst into a purple flame.

Mom rushed to put the fire out. "I am schedualing aa doctors appointment. Maybe I am just loosing my mind."

Mom took me to the doctors with her.

"Doctor Junt. My daughter seems to have burnt herself but does not have any burn marks."

Doctor Junt looked at me and felt my hands then took my temperature.

He then looked at my mom with uncertainty.

"Mrs. Brady, your daughter has bendamiolta which is very extremely rare. One in every one milllion people get this."

My mom looked worried yet upset. "What is bendamiolta and is there anything I can do to keep it under control or stop it?"

"Doctor Junt sighed. bendamiolta is a case in which she can absorb heat or cold and not be burned or effected. She can then touch or point at anything and it will either burn or freeze. The one warning though is that if she gets mad, the last substance she touched will flare and pretty much destroy an entire house at this age. You can not get rid of this, but to. control it when she is calm, take this pen and draw a snowflake in a sun on her hand once a day. the sun will outline red and the snowflake blue. I want to see Elise back here in 2 months."

Mom nodded and took me home.

~The Present~
I was sitting in class listening to a lecture on lab safety when my friend Lacy passed me a note.

You owe me on an explanation to why you always have that sign on your hand

I looked at Lacy and shook my head no.

"Is there anything you would like to share with the class Elise?"

I looked around to see the entire class staring at me. "No Mr. Laxtoff. Sorry."

Mr. Laxtoff mumbled something under hiss breath but continued teaching anyways.

After class Lucy grabbed my hand and pulled up my sleeve to expose the mark on my hand.

"Elise, at some point you will need to tell me what that means."

I laughed. "I don't need to tell you anything. But just to be nice, it is just another sign for temperature."

Lucy sighed. "Fine. But at some point in time, I will find out what that symbol is for."

I laughed and just left Lucy standing there.

When I got to my locker I saw I had multiple messages from Doctor Junt.

<Elise, remember there is an appointment after school today for you at 2:30.>

<Elise, we will be trying something new with you at the appointment.>

<Elise, call when you get the chance.>

I sighed and dialed Doctor Junt's number.

"Hello, Elise. Are you returning my messages?"

I sighed into the phone, "you said to call so I am calling."

"Ah well okay then. I just wanted to say that we will be attempting a new sign to control this at the appointment. If we do, this sign if it works might be able to hold your abilities for more than just a day."

"well, that would be awkward. Sorry but I like the sign on my hand better. People at school think it is a color changing tattoo from some other country. Also, there is no need to wear a sweater in school. Also, I have had this symbol for over 10 years. when I set that paper on fire, that was a mishap because my mom and I had no Idea I had bendamiolta."

I heard Doctor Junt go quiet. "well, Elise, The symbol may be cool but this is meant to keep you from having a full on rage. When you were 6, If you got mad enough you could set an entire house on fire. when you were 8, you could have the potential to burn a neighborhood street of houses or a school. when you were 10, you could have burnt down everything in a 3 mile radius of where you were. When you hit 12, you had the capability of burning down the entire town you lived in, <Plus>, you could now summon stuff out of the fire like ropes and other tools. 14 was fine because you got sick for awhile, but now that you are 16, you should be able to take out an entire city with flames if you wanted to. Okay granted enough human pedestrians plus you would be fine and not burnt, but at the same time, all buildings and road and anything else would be completely demolished. Also, as you get older these powers will only become more and more powerful."

"yes I know I was like that. But right now, I have not had a rage fest yet. Plus, I have to have some weakness to take me out. I mean, how would someone stop me?"

Doctor Junt became dead silent. "we will need to find out while you are here then."

"that would be a good idea. If I did rage, there is no need for me to rage at school."

"Elise, why do you think you mother did not say no to you when you would argue with her?"

"Because I had very compelling aguements."

"No, it is because when you got mad, you would look around for something cold or hot that you could touch. That symbol on your hand will only keep them restrained for a certain amount of anger. Nothing can save you from the blast itself. All it is doing right now is making it so the blast is smaller. with the sign, the blast could pretty much now just take out the town instead of the city. Anyways, see you after school Elise."

I turned off my phone and put it in my locker. I then heard the bell ring signaling I should get to class.
