"So, what? Sure, it's a rare condition, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. That look sort of suits you." Joanna admitted.
Ariana felt more confident the rest of the night and kept her hair up. 9:00 pm came early and tomorrow was a school day, so the girls needed to get some sleep. Ariana was glad she met Joanne and somewhere deep inside Joanne was glad she met Ariana.
Meanwhile, at Ethan's house, Samuel, Jason, and of course, Jason's younger sister, Sunny, were having a guys' night out. Alexa was forced to tag along but she hated being around boys, especially her brother, Samuel.
Ethan locked the door to his room with Samuel and Jason with him. Alexa was watching TV in the living room, until a girl who looked about 13 walked up to her. "Hello, you must be Sunny." Alexa said. Sunny had light goldish brown hair with blue eyes, she stayed silent.
"I'm Alexa, Samuel's sister." Alexa introduced.
"Hi." Was all that came out of shy Sunny's mouth.
Alexa decided to stop watching TV and talk with Sunny. "So..." She started. "What are you into?" Alexa just randomly came up with that question.
Sunny stayed silent, but eventually spoke up. "The violin." She said quietly. "I'm pretty good at that."
Alexa suddenly seemed interested. "Well, can you play some for me?" She asked.
Sunny was uncertain, but agreed. Sunny would bring her violin everywhere so it was in her case on a chair, she slowly pulled it out and got her bow ready, and started to play a simple song.
Once she was done, Alexa started to clap her hands and compliment her. The two shared a bond right away.
The next morning, Joanne left with Jason to Creek Meadow High since she promised that she would tell him everything that was going on with her life, Sunny followed along but she needed to split up with them about halfway to go to Creek Meadow Middle School. Ethan went with Samuel with Alexa not far behind chatting on her green phone with her friend. Ariana found out that morning that her brother, Archer, was going to the same school as her, so she went with him.
After 3rd period, the speakers announced that they were having band try-outs, everyone was meant to bring an instrument, the most outstanding 7 students would be grouped into a band to compete with other schools. The school allowed the students who wanted to try-out to go home and get their instruments during lunch.
About 50 students came to audition, each with an instrument of different shapes and sizes. Many sounds that were either beautiful or strange later, the judges announced that the speakers would let everyone know who the lucky 7 were at the end of the day.
The day felt longer for the students that were waiting for the results, but at last, the sound of the speaker put everyone's mind at ease.
"Attention students." The speakers started, "We have decided on the 7 lucky students that will represent the school for more than one competition, so, without further ado, these are the winners. We have Alexa Wood playing the guitar, Samuel Wood with the violin, Jason Smith on the saxophone, Ethan Fam on the drums, Joanne Lin playing the piano, Archer Ravenwood with the clarinet, and last but not least, Ariana Ravenwood playing the flute. Please come to the auditorium after school to get more familiar with your bandmates."
The 7 students were shocked who their bandmates were because they knew each other, or at least had a basic introduction of each other. Alexa, Samuel, Jason, Ethan, Joanne, Archer, and Ariana wondered through the maze-like school until they finally came to a big red door with the word 'Auditorium' on it. They met at the door with their instruments and walked in glad that they met each other.
Once the doors opened, you could see rows of seats from top to bottom, an adult woman with red hair and brown eyes was standing in front of the stage. She heard the door open and welcomed them in. "Hello, dearies!" She exclaimed. "I am Maria Symphony and I will be your music coach from Mondays to Thursdays, you will have a different coach on Fridays, and the weekends if you choose to come here and practice. I have heard all of your auditions and I am very impressed." Maria was cut off by a dark brown-haired woman who looked the same age as her. She had silver eyes.
"They were average." The woman said as she was walking down the stairs. "Martha Williams, pleasure. I am your coach for Fridays and the weekends, I can see that you all need the practice so I strictly advise you to come. Music is not something to be fooled around with, it is extremely serious. There will be no giggling or laughing or even making the slightest noise, if you break the rules you will be suspended from band practice for a week. I will train you until your fingers hurt, if you cannot accept that then see yourself out now for there will be no turning back."
Maria decided to cut her off. "Alright Martha, they get it." Maria told Martha. Martha just left. "This is our first meeting, and since I am in my 40s, it is hard for me to remember all your names." Maria got out a white sheet of paper with all their names. "Let's see, Alexa, I can just call you Alex, is that ok dear? Samuel, can I call you Sam? Archer is not too long. Ariana, may I call you Ari? Joanne is fine. Jason, how about just Jason. Can't forget about Ethan, can we? I don't think I need to change your name. Oh, and you may call me as Mrs. Symphony or just Maria. Well, I'll leave you all to talk." And with that, she left the room.
Jason started to talk with Joanne about life in Taiwan and America, Samuel and Alexa were having some sort of argument, as usual, and Ethan was talking to Ariana, well, until Archer pulled her away to have a little talk. Archer pulled Ariana to a corner of the room.
"Hey, about Taylor, the other day when I mentioned her, you weren't very happy. Anything wrong?" Archer asked.
Ariana and Archer weren't very close and he was basically like a stranger to her, she didn't know why he wanted to become her big brother now. Archer never called, texted, or sent any emails, he was not a part of Ariana's past. Archer lived with his grandparents during his stay in Australia. "Nothing is wrong..." Ariana said firmly, she truly didn't want Archer to be a part of this. But Archer gave her this look that just made her confess for no apparent reason. "Fine. TaylorwantedmetocallherladyandshehasbeenbullyingmeandmakingmefeelworthlessandifIevertoldanyoneshewouldkillme-" Archer cut off Ariana because she was talking too quickly.
"Woah, slow down there." Archer calmed her down. "Taylor is mean to you?" Ariana nodded and looked away. "Don't be afraid, I know that you don't want to tell anyone because Taylor might hurt you but you've got to tell mom and dad." He advised.
"No." Ariana told him. "If I tell mom and dad, Taylor will just deny everything and she will make me look like I'm a liar and do who-knows-what to me."
"Alright, but if she ever does anything you don't like, tell me. Ok?" Archer suddenly seemed caring and wanted to light a path for his sister.
Soon enough, the sun was setting and everyone needed to get home for dinner. But what they didn't know was that someone was watching and listening to their every action and word.
