Another day, another meeting at the office. The same routine, day by day. The same coffee, the same mug that was already stained with a tint of brown on it's white inside.
Yet, as repetitive as all these things were, maybe today will be different.
The empty hall ringed with the rhythm of some steps.
"Good morning, boss" a female voice said to which he nodded in response.
The boss...a tall, handsome man with piercing blue-ish green eyes. His looks definitely made him stand out...aside from the massive company he was leading.
BELN'S POV
I walked down the tidy, dark hall to the elevator. Today I was at work earlier than usual, because of an important private meeting I have planned.
Okay just kidding, I was actually late, the meeting had to start like thirty minutes ago.
Usually my assistant deals with being on time, but she is not allowed to attend this kind of meetings, which is what I hate about them.
The doors of the elevator opened, I checked myself in the mirrored walls inside of it before stepping out.
"You're only thirty-five minutes late, that's a record" said a nicely dressed, elegant woman, leaning against the wall, next to the door of my office. She looked up at me with a smirk.
Vonk, one of my dearest friends but also business partner. She's works alone on lots of secret missions, outside of my builds. Someone needs to do the dirty work, am I right?
"Traffic or whatever" I mumbled unlocking the door. Actually I was drinking my coffee down at the cafeteria.
I kept it open for her to walk in, the sound of her stilettos filling the quiet room.
"You should really get some sleep, your under eyes are getting worse" she pointed out, sitting down in a small couch in front of my work table.
"I'm just busy these days" I said carelessly. I did have a lot of episodes of 'Keeping up With The Kardashians' to watch, and that is a lot of work "what did you want to talk about?"
"It's a pretty serious thing. I started my research on it, alone, long ago, but I found some things that I'd like to discuss with you" she crossed her legs.
"Bring it on."
"However, first I need to be sure you are willing to participate in this. It is a deep, complicated subject, even for someone as skilled as me. But if we put our forces together I think we will both benefit from digging into this" Vonk explained.
"Sure I'm all yours" I shrugged and sat down in my comfortable chair "you can ask my assistant to help."
"No" she said coldly "this is a serious thing that should remain a secret between you and me, at least for now. I know your assistant always does the work for you but she shouldn't be involved in this."
"Really?" I groaned. I didn't like when she was playing all mysterious. What does she expect me to do if it's such a 'serious' thing? I'm not in the mood for actual work right now "fine, we're keepin' it a secret, now get into details, what do we have to deal with?"
She sighed and looked at me right in the eyes "it's the BNE."
KUDOK'Z POV
Finally another day of work. Today I decided to come earlier as I heard that Beln was going to be early as well, he didn't mention why though. Either way I wanted to surprise him with a nice breakfast, cause he barely ate any proper food in the mornings.
I walked in the main, tall gray-ish white and turquoise, building. It might sound irrelevant but I really liked the way all these structures were built, they all had a really nice aesthetic to them which I appreciated. My boss had really good interior tastes as well, everything looked really good and blended in nicely.
I was admiring my surroundings, which I do every single day and never get bored of, until the lady at the lobby snapped me out with a greeting.
"Good morning Miss" she said sweetly.
"Good morning, has Mr. Beln arrived yet?" I asked quietly from behind my bangs that were covering nearly half of my face.
"Yes, he is in his office."
"Thank you" I nodded and walked toward the stairs.
Most employees thought it was weird that I always chose the stairs instead of the elevator. Yes it was a lot of stairs, especially cause the floors were fairly tall and Beln's main office was at the 6th floor, but I personally enjoyed it and saw nothing wrong in that. But of course I do take the elevator when I need to get somewhere fast.
I calmly walked up, step by step, till I arrived at the 6th floor. I went by the balcony first, to breathe in some fresh air and went back in.
I fixed my hair and my jacket and entered Beln's office, not bothering to knock. It might seem impolite but it wasn't something necessary between us.
As soon as I step in I hear the conversation being stopped abruptly. I glance up from the ground and noticed Vonkagora's presence.
"Ah, good morning boss! I didn't know you were busy, my apologies" I said, holding my bag behind me "I also apologize for interrupting your discussion." I added, my face heating up.
"And that's what would've happened if we were actually able to find out who BNE is" I said crossing my arms proudly. You didn't think that all of the above was real didn't you?
