I'm now a girl on the run. I don't even hesitate when i have to decide where to go, my feet just take me there. I walk up our deserted road, just mine and our neighbours empty house is around here, it's eery down our street, dark, dismal and eery. I try to get away as fast as i can but i ache so much it's hard. At the end of the road is a well. the kind of well that little kids would throw pennies in and make a wish, i did that once, but i threw myself in and my wish came true.
I discovered it just after my sister left, dad was particularly angry that day, he'd lost his daughter and also just found out that he had no beer money. I honestly believed that he was about to kill me, so i ran, for the first time i opened the front door and just ran and ran. That was the first time that i'd been outside so i didn't know where i was going. i saw a well in the distance and just jumped in, i didn't even bother to pull the bucket up first i was so convinced that he was following me- of course he wasn't, he hadn't even looked out of the door. It was quite a sheer drop and it hurt quite a bit when i hit the ground but i didn't even notice the pain. i was quite surprised when i realised my surroundings, i was in like a tunnel with a stream of water in the bottom, i noticed a ring of light and walked towards it, intrigued. it was a man hole, it seemed that i was in a sewer! i pushed up the man hole and saw the most unexpected sight.
Back in the real world i pull up the bucket and balance myself into it, as soon as i hit the ground i'm off, the same route every time, through the stream up the man hole and into my most favourite place in the world. I take in a deep breath and relish my freedom in the beauty of the forest.
