Please tell me if there is anything I can improve upon with this story, because I am a amateur writer, it would be very well appreciated. And as you can see, I do not own the cover.

Where am I? That was my first thought when I woke up. What happened? I can't remember anything. Then it all came rushing back.

My name is Shiroga Kabane. A 19 year old Japanese man, fresh out of high school, with black hair, blue-steel eyes, and pale-ish skin. I was going to a job interview, when some guy, running from the police, shoved me onto the tracks with a train barreling its way towards me.
There was pain, enough to block out the world around me, I could hear my bones snap, feel my muscles tear, my hand soared through the air towards the horrified people on the station. I couldn't breath, my heart, every time it beat, a new wave of pain rushed forth. It felt like hours, but was actually seconds. Then the pain just stopped as I heard a sickening crack, and all I saw was a soothing, peaceful, black.

Shouldn't I be dead? "Yes, you are dead, anyways, welcome to the afterlife young man." I realized I was sitting in a chair, so I turned around to see where the voice came from, and saw a man in a simple black suit walking towards the chair in front of me, across a small coffee table. He had blazing red hair, forest green eyes, and he looked to be somewhere in his late thirties, early forties. He was muscled, not to where they were bulging out of his suit, but more lean, like that of a professional acrobat, but could still throw one hell of a punch. Overall, he looked like someone mature women would fight over.
"I am Ankarrel, the god of the afterlife, travel, and summoning. So, I have come to give you a choice, you can go to heaven, be reincarnated with a miniscule chance that you retain your memories, or other options. Please tell me your choice soon." Wait, what!? God, heaven, reincarnation? I thought that was all fake! "Eh, that's to be expected. You humans have so many religions that some of you don't believe in any at all. So when are you going to choose?"
"Did you just read my mind?" I asked. Ankarrel then replied, "Yes, I did and thanks for the complement earlier, it may have just been a passing thought, but still, thanks for the complement."
"Your welcome, I guess. Well, Ankarrel-kami, you said you were the god of the afterlife, travel, and summoning right? Do you mind telling me what they have in common?" I asked. "Hmm... Your actually quite calm even after what happened to you and myself revealing that I was a god, I like that."
"To answer your question, I am primarily the god of travel because you need to travel through death to reach the afterlife, or a new life in general, and to summon, the being that is summoned, has to travel space and time, within reason of coarse, in order to greet the summoner." I saw reason in that explanation, even if it wasn't the best. "What are the other options you mentioned, besides heaven and reincarnation, Ankarrel-kami?" When I asked that, he looked oddly pleased. "When I mention the 'other options' bit, you humans generally forget about that when I mention being a god, so, normally I wouldn't give you a certain option, but your behavior is refreshing compared to most others. Anyways, the other options are to go to hell, or be given a new body and be summoned to another world, and I have a feeling I know what your going to pick, Shigora-san."
"Your probably right, because I choose the latter of those new options." Ankarrel continued smiling, "You know what, I like you, I'm going to give you a passive 'cheat' ability on top of a new body. And before that, I need to tell you that the world your going to is one of swords and magic, meaning the world is in a medieval timeline with magic strewn in, along with skills too. Skills are the same as they are in games with active and passive, to get one skill, you have to put a lot of effort in learning one, unless you get extremely lucky."
"Then there are 'unique' and 'special' skills. Special skills are skills that you can create and teach, whereas unique skills, are limited to you and unique skills can change your race entirely, depending on what it is, of coarse." That last bit I'm not too worried about because it would be awesome to be a beastman or something. "Anyways, I'm done with this shitty ass explanation, so I'm going to send you over now, please don't die again for awhile."
