Chapter 1
Cara's pov
'I'm never going to find a job' I exasperated.
I've been walking place to place for the past 2 days. Looking for a job. Even janitorial services weren't available! My landlord gave me my final warning today.
I had 1 week to find a paying job to at least get him to back off for another 2 weeks or so. But so far I couldn't find anything, no one was hiring!
Suddenly a hard gush of wind came from my right causing my head to whip to the left. Looking up I saw the giant name in bold HOLDEN.
I don't know what possessed me to do it. But before I knew it I was through the front door. And standing in front of the main desk.
I was brought back to reality when I was shoved to the ground. Glancing up I caught a quick glimpse of a woman balling her eyes out running out the front entrance.
*Riiiiiing*
The sound of the front desk caused me to jump. Frantically the woman at the desk immediately answered the phone. Zoning out I focused on the interior of the lobby. It was modern. Decorated with white walls with a black trimming along with glass ornaments everywhere.
Breaking out of my admiration. Im greeted with the face of a woman who looks as if she's about to break down. She stares at me, as if she was contemplating something. gives me a once over. And tells me to turn around.
Spinning, I wonder what the reason for this action is.
'Can you type? Organize papers? Answer phone calls? And most importantly, make coffee?' The lady asks.
'Yes, yes, yes. And the best in town.' I answer.
'Well how would you like to work here at Holden as an assistant?' She asks with a hint of desperation in her voice.
'REALLY?! That would be great! When do I start?'
'NOW!' She exclaims ' She picks up the phone and dials a number. Next thing you know I am being taken up the elevator to the 31st floor.
