Dan's POV
My parents decided to move to london, so now I'm getting ready to go my new school! Yay I'm so exited- not. I hated school before we moved because of.......... Reasons. That's why, reasons.
My parents had been trying to get me together with a girl back home because according to my parents, I have no idea how to talk to girls and I never date so... the only time I was asked out was on a truth or dare.
Then, of course my dad's job forced us to move out of our small town and into the most well known place in the country; London. Where you actually have to interact with people. Thankfully we're on the outskirts although not really because you can see all the buildings from our house, hear the honking car horns from annoyed drivers.
So hopefully I don't die.
Apparently I'm going to London Ridge highschool. I begged my parents for us to stay there until I graduated since now I'm going to be a senior but if course they never listen.
They never do, and never have, it's why I alot of times can't stand them.
I go downstairs to see my mum reading the newspaper with a cup of strong smelling coffee. My dad sitting at the other end of the table on his phone, probably texting one of his other girlfriends.
Even though my parents are married, I wouldn't call it marriage, my dad cheats on Mum. I have a memory of when I was five, my mum passed out drunk at 2am, dad still "At work" when work was going to the strip club late at night when the women who weren't getting paid well would stay extra late and offer themselves up to anyone as long as they would pay.
So you could hardly say my parents have a steady marriage.
"Go get ready for school already." My mom says blankly as if she truly doesn't care what the hell I do. I go upstairs, change into a blue and black checkered button up flannel with dark skinny jeans, style my hobbit hair, and grab the car keys as I head out the door.
The ride to school is short as I get out the car and close the door shut locking it. Students pour into the high school left and right. Exiting their cars, making out on the hood of their cars.
My parents used to want that to be me but instead they were left with this. Daniel Howell. Not a Justin Bieber. Just a Dan Howell who can't get a girl.
Girls wearing dresses that hug their skin too tight, shorts that almost show their underwear that's probably all black lace for their boyfriends. Their shirts that show their breasts. No wonder so many highschool aren't innocent. We can wear whatever we want just about as long as it doesn't have things relating to rape and crap. But with what the girls can get away with they might as well show up in their underwear.
Don't even get me started on the makeup. Oh my god. Last year one girl had a freaking panic attack because she forgot her makeup bag.
But as I'm walking, there's one girl that catches my eye. She's wearing shorts but not to the point where they're ridiculously short with a plain black T-Shirt and black hightops. Her hair is a bright red that she obviously dyed that stops below her shoulders. She has the jaw line of Mikey Way but the soft look of a flower with small, pale lips, glasses that frame her hazel eyes, and no makeup.
The image of perfection. Her lower body is long tan legs that look perfect even though she isn't doing anything to make people notice her. But someone else has let their eyes wander over to her to as we wait outside of the school. He finds me staring and married his eyes at me as if she's already his even though they've probably never even talked. As soon as I roll my eyes I feel my face connect with the pavement. Probably one of eye narrower's stupid friends. I get up even though my ankle hurts from people stepping on me.
I see the girl I was staring at earlier lock eyes with me for a split second and make her way over to me through the crowd even though I'm already back on my feet.
"Uh, Hi?" I state awkwardly, not knowing what to say. She waves, an awkward smile rising on her face. But then she's swept away again as students get let into the school.
