I pester Percy and Annabeth:
Nico POV
You know, being immortal isn't as great as people think it is! Everyone thinks it would be great to live for ever.
"Ooooh! I could do everything I ever wanted to do and stay forever young!"
Well sorry to brake it you, but it's not all like that! After you've done everything you wanted to do over seventy times, what will you do then? Hmmm? Thought so! You don't know!
That's what it's like for me right now.
Everything is "been there" and "done that" fifty times over!
"You just don't have someone to do all these things with! That's why your so grumpy all the time Neeks!"
Percy stated lifting up his wife Annabeth to get a book from our massive book shelves. I was standing in the library complaining to them whilst they looked for a certain spell book Annabeth wanted.
"What do you mean by that Percy!"
I snapped crossing my arms.
Percy huffed lifting up Annabeth a little higher upon her request.
"I mean Nico, that I have Annabeth to spend time with, it makes being immortal way less... uhhh boring, as you put it."
I blinked as Annabeth extended her arm to reach for the green book on the top shelve. Our library is a massive endless room with no ceiling. It's an eternal void full of books and old ever burning candles. It's smells of dust. Things like this happen in the house of warlocks. Honestly it's impossible to find anything!
"You need a lover Nico, is what Percy here is trying to say, a handsome warlock boy for your perhaps! Or would you rather it be a human?"
I scoffed at Annabeth words. A human? The very thought of those miserable weak mortals made me shiver in disgust.
"No way Annabeth! Humans are horrid."
Annabeth muttered something about not quite being able to reach and asked Percy to stand on his tiptoes. It's was quite amusing.
"How ... arghh ... so Nico? So nearly there!"
She muttered that last part, her fingertips brushing the spine of the green and gold encrusted spell book.
"Humans live such a short amount of time ! They die and wither and are useless, all they do is cause suffering and war, and they can't even perform a basic levitation spell."
I scoffed
"Pathetic!"
Just at that moment Percy slipped on a puddle of water he had trailed into the library, (stupid water warlock!) and he and Annabeth came tumbling down into a heap on the floor. Percy groaned as Annabeth sat up frustrated.
"Percy!!!"
She scolded brushing her curly blonde pony tail out of her face. Percy Rubbed the back of his neck, silent laughter in his sea green eyes.
"Sorry wise girl, I slipped on a puddle again."
Annabeth sighed standing up.
"I can see that Percy. Nico?"
I hummed in response.
"Would you be a dear and fly up to get that book for me? I can't reach!"
I groaned over exaggerating my misery.
"Why me? Get Jason! Or Percy!"
Annabeth sent me a glare.
"Jason isn't here, Percy can grow a fish tail, not wings, and your the only other person here who can fly! Oh please Nico ! For me?"
I sighed. Percy is a water warlock, he can swim and breathe underwater and everything! Jason is the sky warlock, he can fly even though he doesn't have any wings! I live with other warlocks too! There is Leo , the fire warlock, Hazel the gemstone warlock, Frank, the shape shifting warlock, and Piper. Piper isn't a warlock, she is a siren. Closely related though. Annabeth and Leo's girlfriend Calypso, are clear sighted mortals , which means they were chosen by a warlock to become immortal and gain a little basic magic, not making them entirely human. Thank God for that! I hate humans.
I am a shadow warlock. Warlock of darkness, black magic, death and destruction blah blah blah.... oh yeah! I also have wings. Black raven coloured wings, that glow purple when ever I activate them and use them to fly. They haven't been used much in the recent millennium because I have been shut up in here, complaining to my "family" about how boring life as a warlock is.
"Ahem."
I turned to look at Annabeth who was impatiently tapping her foot on the old wooden floor of the library.
"Book now di Angelo! Or I won't be able to cast the spell to make the couch fire proof. Do you want Leo to burn the couch? This is our thirtieth one!"
I sighed giving in to Annabeth demands. I took of my grey and black hoodie, because it didn't have holes for my wings to fit through. I closed my eyes and silently willed them to appear.
I felt two sharp and short bursts of pain shoot through my shoulder blades as I felt the wings spring from my back and bloom into glowing purple feathers. I ruffled them around a bit, making sure it was comfortable, before jogging back a few steps.
I did a run up , narrowly avoiding Percy's puddle mess, and propelled myself off the floor and into the air. I flew up with ease, circling around the sides of the book shelves till I reached the green and gold book. I smirked and pulled it out from its place on the shelf.
Still hovering in the air, I blew the dust off of the cover revealing a title written in old Ancient Greek runes. Most scripts were written in Greek or Latin. Some where in Egyptian hyroghliphs and old Chinese but I didn't understand those as well.
I tucked the book under my arm, leaned back and let myself plummet towards the impatient couple on the ground. Before I could hit, I gave a forceful flap of my wings and instantly slowed down so I had time to turn myself the right way round and land gracefully in front of the pair.
"Show off!"
Percy muttered as Annabeth happily took the book from me.
I shrugged.
"Not my fault your a useless fish and don't have wings!"
Annabeth prodded me in the shoulder.
"Nico enough with calling people useless today! You know I used to be a dumb useless human too."
I turned away scowling.
"Yeah well now your not!"
Annabeth sighed and handed me my crumpled hoodie. I shivered and put it on. It's pretty cold in the library.
"Come on! It's Rachel's turn to make dinner today!"
Oh yeah. I forgot about Rachel ! That's because she sort of lives in a separate building entirely. A cave more specifically. But she tends to join us for meals and thing. I love it when she cooks because she can see the future a little, and she knows exactly what we would like to eat!
I licked my lips and pushed past Percy, I turned back briefly and yelled.
"Race ya!"
Percy smirked
"Gods Nico you must be bored!"
Then he thought about it some more, and ignoring Annabeth disapproving looks retorted
"It's on !"
