Usually I wasn't this reckless. I had always played by the rules and done what I was told to do. Sitting in a car with Luke, driving further and further from Redwood Hill, I felt like I was free for the first time in my life. Like my parents, like nobody, could tell me what I could and couldn't do anymore. I was free to be myself, to be who I wanted to be.

I rested my forehead on the cold glass window, watching as Seattle came into view. The brilliantly vibrant color of the sound seeming to reflect over the tall metallic buildings. The space needle standing strong and proud, I made a mental note to go up there one day. Maybe Luke would take me.

I glanced at Luke. He was staring forward, and I could only see his profile, but even just like that I could tell that he was ridiculously attractive. His dark blonde hair was messily quiffed, light freckles dotted across his face, and his jawline was killer.

Luke glanced at me, most likely because he could feel my creepy stare. I didn't even care because in that moment his eyes captured mine, and I melted. I have never seen eyes so piercingly green. I broke his stare feeling my cheeks begin to heat up.

Somebody this attractive had to have a girlfriend. There was no way he didn't. She was probably blonde and blue-eyed. She probably had no fat around her waist and perfect breasts. They would probably get married and have perfectly adorable babies. This made me sad. It made my heart feel heavier to even think about it. I needed to stop thinking about it. It was making me feel sad. I glanced back out the window. I watched as we took an exit and made out way into downtown Seattle. After a few turns, and the struggle to find parking, we made our way into a QFC.

I couldn't help but giggle. I pulled out my notepad as we walked.

When you asked if I wanted to do something crazy, I wasn't expecting us to go grocery shopping.

I handed my notepad to him as we kept walking and even through all the busy city noise, I heard him laugh. He handed my notepad back to me.

"We're just stopping here really quickly. We can do the really crazy stuff after we eat." He said with a wink. I felt myself blush furiously. I turned away as I heard him chuckle. I felt like I was acting like a thirteen year old love struck girl. I needed to stop, we were just friends.

Once we stepped inside the grocery store, Luke led me towards the deli isle. As we passed row after row of succulent food. My mouth watered. Suddenly I felt the empty pit that was my stomach and my intestines decided it would be a great time to notify the world that it was hungry. As an extremely embarrassing noise came out of my stomach, Luke glanced at me.

"Hungry are we?" Luke teased, his eyes laughing. I rolled my eyes and gently shoved him. Luke laughed at me, and stopped suddenly, almost making me run into him.

He laughed once more and bashfully smiled at me.

"We almost walked right past them." I looked to where he was pointing and saw row upon row of sandwiches. He grabbed a roast beef sandwich and waited expectantly for me to grab one.

After carefully examining my choices, I picked up an egg salad sandwich. Luke made a face, I couldn't help but be amused and raise an eyebrow at him.

"I hate egg sandwiches. They're gross." He stuck out his tongue and squinted his eyes closed.

Well at least I know that my sandwich is safe from you.

Luke laughed and we made our way to the checkout lane. We grabbed a bag of chips and a drink from nearby. I grabbed my wallet to hand Luke the money for my food. Luke pushed my wallet away.

"No no no. I'm paying. I'm the reason your in this situation so might as well pay for your food." He smiled sincerely at me and I found myself putting my wallet away, when I normally would have forced him to take my money, I mean I have enough to where I don't like to burden others with my expenses.

==================

Once we were back in the car, we continued driving. In all honesty I hadn't expected to be in the car this long and I was getting restless. The longer I sat here besides Luke, the more my conscious nagged at me that I should be back at Redwood. My parents had also been calling my phone nonstop. I guess Mrs. Mortlock must have informed my parents of my little escapade. They were sending me text after text asking where I was and to go back to Redwood Hill immediately. I just turned my phone off.

Suddenly Luke turned off of the freeway. I watched as mile after mile we slowly began to see more and more trees and less civilization.

It was another thirty minutes of driving and by now there was just an endless sea of trees. The setting sun glimmered just behind the treetops.

"We're almost there." Luke's voice startled me. It had been some time since he had spoken.

I hope your not some sort of murderer, driving me out in the middle of nowhere to just execute me and leave my body in the endless muddle of trees.

I showed him my note, a small smile tugged at my lips.

He pulled his face into a small grimace, and a small, nasally, high pitched voice suddenly invaded the car.

"Ugh! I would never! Do you know how long it would take to take blood off of these clothes! Disgusting!" One side of his mouth twitched up into a smile.

I couldn't help but smile wide. What a dork.

"Oh! Oh! You can see just the top of it there!" Luke suddenly shouted.

I looked in the direction of where he was pointing, but with the dim light coming from the setting sun, it was hard to see much. Though as we continued driving I could barely make out something tall in the distance. What in the world was that tall? Getting even closer I could see that it looped.

Oh lord.

It couldn't be.

But it was.

The metal roller coaster stood firmly in front of us.

He was taking me to an amusement park? It was kind of late for that.

???

His smile grew wider. He was practically jumping in his seat.

"Just wait and see."

As we got closer I could see even more loops from other rides. The only eery thing was that I could see no flashing lights or glowing lights emanating from the amusement park, like you would expect.

When we finally pulled up to the park my suspicion was confirmed there were no lights. There were also no cars. No people. It actually looked like the place had been abandoned. There was overgrown grass everywhere, trash littered the floor, and the paint was chipping.

Luke pulled up right next to the entrance and turned off the car. He turned towards me in his seat.

"Birdie I would like to be the first to formally introduce you to the art of sneaking into abandoned amusement parks."
