Based on a true story...
prologue
"Yes, I'm coming if you'd just wait a second!" I shout into my phone as I walk down the overly crowded hallway of my school.
"Yell at me one more time Cameron. I dare you. I will sucker punch your bitch ass." My best friend Savanna snarks through the phone. She always throws violent threats at me but never actually goes through with them.
"Do it, you won't." I reply back.
"Okay, bet." She answers and then abruptly hangs up the phone before I could even say anything back. I shake my head and look up at the hall in-front of me.
To be completely honest, I hate high school. Always have. Just walking down this hallway filled with people I mostly hate makes me want to throw myself in front of a bus. I don't hate high school because it's hard, because it's not. I hate high school because the people in it are just a bunch of back stabbing, two faced, sons of bitches. I look to my left and I see the group of girls who date each others boyfriends right after one another but still call one another friends. And then I look to my right and I see the group of Football guys that don't even know the difference between an acute and obtuse angle. But the most frustrating thing about all this is that you have to pretend you like everyone, because you can't just go around hating everyone and still except to have friends by the end of all this.
The only person I really like in this school is Savannah. She's not rude, or a two faced bitch like the other girls. She's kind and charismatic and understands my sense of humour, which very few people do. She only moved here last year. She was the new pretty new girl that everyone wanted to be friends with. But she knew better than to fall for the cool kids manipulative games.
She had been "the new girl" before. In fact, she's been "the new girl" 6 other times before she came here. She used to live in England, but her dad's job caused their family to constantly relocate every year or so all around the UK. This is their first year coming to the US and it's their last time relocating so Savannah can finish her junior and senior year in one place.
I give her props for being able to do that every year. I would probably lose my mind having to move once you finally get comfortable in one place. But I guess she's used to it.
I pull out my phone and open up my instagram, then immediately regret it when I begin scrolling and look at all the basic teenage girl photos where they arch their backs to make their non-existent asses pop out.
As I continue to scroll I come across my screen I see a text message pop up on my screen.
Savannah: you have 30 seconds to be downstairs in the first floor lobby or so help me Cameron I will go ape-shit.
Savannah: and besides, I want to go to the mall to get the hand bag before Stacy gets it, she knew I wanted it so she's trying to go get it... SO HURRY UP!
I shake my head and pick up the pace as I begin to reply back.
me: shut up I'm coming you jhgbn%&sen$#vfn@ fmv201f.
A much taller body slams into my face causing me to collapse onto the ground and drop my phone dead smack on the floor.
I can't even open my eyes. Everything around me is a blur. I can hear people stop their conversations as they look at my engrossing body lying on the floor.
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry. Are you alright?" I hear a faint male voice call out to me. I struggle to pull myself up from my fallen position but I feel a hand grab onto mine as I begin to regain feeling.
"Here, let me help you." The voice began again. My eyes slightly begin to flicker open as I begin to regain sight. As I look around me, everyone is staring, including the janitor. My body is still being lifted up the boy in front of me. As he pulls me back up onto my feet, my eyes meet with the most beautiful pair of olive green eyes I've ever seen in my life. His hands were soft yet warm, and his fingers were slender and elongated. His hair swooped upwards with his slight curls sticking out from every possible angle. The worried look on his face quickly turned into a slight smile which released a calming sight relief and two dimples to appear on the sides of his rosy cheeks.
"You're standing so that's a good thing." He says with a smirk. I noticed he has an accent the moment he said "standing". It sounds British almost. I pull my hair back away from my face and greet him with gapping eyes.
"Wow, sorry that was so embarrassing." I say as I stroke my fingers through my hair so I can look down to the ground for my phone.
"No, it's okay." He begins, "Here. I'll get that for you." He bends down to grab a hold of my phone and places it in my hands.
"Thanks." I say with little enthusiasm, not because he bores me, but because I was rather embarrassed.
"Oh uh," He says as his face turns slightly uncomfortable for a moment.
"What?" I ask urgently.
"It appears I accidentally got the banana I was eating smudged all over your top." He says as he motions his finger in my general breast area. I look down and notice all the banana smudged on my shirt and quickly attempt to brush it away.
"Ah, Crap. I'm such a klutz," I begin."Sorry you didn't get to finish your banana." I say apologetically.
"No really, you're fine." He laughs with reassurance. "I should be the one that's sorry I got banana all over your top." He laughs.
"You're good, it comes right off, see?" I say as I wipe the last bit of banana off my shirt and look up at him. We both stand there and stair at each other for a moment until we realise that everyone else was still staring too. This was just getting to awkward so I break the silence.
"Thanks again for the help. I'm in a rush so, I better get going." I say quickly as I begin to take a step in-front of him.
"Yeah, sounds good, uh. See you around I guess." The boy says with his rugged voice.
"Yeah totally. See you around." I say as I walk backwards then turn back around and bite my lip as I walk down the last flight of stairs.
As I turn the corner, I see an impatient Savannah standing by the potted plant in the main entrance.
"So I ask you to come down here in 30 seconds and instead you take a whole 30 minutes! What, did you do take a trip to the other side of the country then come back?!" She exclaims.
"No, I just bumped into someone that's all, now shut up and let's just go."
