Your life was changing before your eyes and you couldn't stop it. One second, you were living your perfect life, and the next? Well, that's what this story is about.
You found yourself falling for him more and more every time you saw him. He was a drug to you. A highly addictive drug and as much as you wanted to never see him again, you found yourself craving his attention.
He was an arrogant, self-absorbed bastard, yet you continuously found yourself wanting to dig deep into his mind and know everything about him. Something about him that made him mysterious. You felt like if you could break his cold exterior, he would be a completely different person.
Anyone he knew him personally, well, they knew what he was really after. Money. After all, who doesn't want money in life? The thought of having millions upon millions of dollars can make a person go crazy. He was one of those people, except he wasn't crazy. He was smart. Very smart. How could I possibly want to be with someone like that? Is a question you would continuously ask yourself when you couldn't sleep. He was the reason you couldn't sleep.
You were at your first house party, in L.A., when you met him. Throughout the night, the two of you kept making eye contact, waiting for the other to make the first move. His brown eyes were deep and mysterious. They told a story and at you wanted to know it. His floppy brown hair was maintained in a black hat that looked like it had been worn a few times too many. He was attractive and you couldn't deny it.
He eventually came up to you while you were dancing and asked if he could get you a drink. You politely declined, but he insisted. You gave in, not wanting to cause trouble, but there was something about him that you didn't like. You couldn't place your finger on it. You thought it was the fact that maybe it was what he said to you seemed so rehearsed, or maybe it was how he walked, like he was superior to everyone else.
When you got to the bar, he ordered your favorite drink. Somewhat surprised, you asked him how he knew that was your favorite drink, he simply said "Lucky guess." That was when it hit you. You immediately knew he was smarter than what he let on. He had studied you throughout the night. He knew you had been drinking that same drink the entire night. That's why you would catch him staring. He was trying to read you. You could then tell, you weren't the first girl he had tried this on.
You, yourself, were smart too. You knew who he was and you also knew to make it big in this town, you needed connections. You played his game. You talked with him, you danced with him, but not once did you let your guard down. You knew that if even for a second you opened yourself up to him, he could take advantage of you, and you couldn't let that happen.
