"i can't dance, finn," iris said. "i don't think that you trying to teach me will help." she flipped her beach wavy, blonde hair, to the other side of her neck. the school dance was coming up, and a boy from her science class had asked iris, but she didn't know how to dance. she had drove over to one of her best friends, finn's house, to talk and raid his kitchen, but somehow this topic of the school dance came up. they could talk about anything without any bit of awkwardness. it was one of their many talents, as was being best friends for six years.

"i promise my lessons will help you!" finn argued with iris. finn was nowhere near a good dancer, and all their friends knew it. during freshman year their friend group went to homecoming together and his moves made three DJS leave. iris hesitated but she stood up from his comfy couch, put down the box of wheat thins, and turned on some music off of a random station. it was a slow song but it had a nice beat, maybe it would be easy to dance to.

"okay, now you put your hands here," finn said, placing iris' hands on his shoulders. "and now you can imagine dane putting his hands here," he put his own hands on iris' hips. she giggled at him. "then you slowly sway to the beat of the music."

they swayed for a few seconds before finn decided it would be a good idea to pull out "the good moves" and started dancing awkwardly across the living room. iris stood there, questioning why she was even friends with this dork.

"keep doing you, buddy." iris said, sitting down admiring the "good moves". she looked at her phone and realized it was getting late and her mom would want her home. sometimes her mom didn't even notice when iris was gone, because of her super busy work schedule, but when she did notice, she would always want iris home as soon as possible.

"sorry finn, i have to go," she said, grabbing her phone and the box of wheat thins that she stole from finn, "see you tomorrow?" she kissed his cheek as she ran out his door. she ran away so fast she didn't get to see that he was blushing.

"yeah, see you tomorrow iris." he said, sighing and closing the door. finn sat down on his couch, next to the spot iris was sitting when she was there. he just kept thinking about how he got the friendzone kiss! the kiss on the cheek just means that she thought of finn as only a friend. but also, you don't just kiss someone, even if it's a friendzone kiss, if you're going to the dance with a boy who asked you. girls are so confusing. "god, i wish i would've put my arm around you or something of that nature." he hit himself in the head  about four times before turning on the tv to rick and morty, then falling asleep.
