"The most beautiful thing
about young love is the truth
in our hearts that it will last forever"
- Atticus

The Town with Pep, also known as Riverdale. Was a small town, nothing much going on, peaceful. Neighbours chatting, kids playing, everyone smiling. Happy smiles, high spirits and kind hearts. Filled with beautiful places like Sweet Water River and Fox Forest but none of them could ever beat Pops Choc Lit Shoppe. Inside Pops would be seated three kids in a booth, these kids would be seated there nearly everyday. These kids were Archie Andrews, the charmer, the athlete, the redhead, and Betty Cooper, the girl next door, perfect, straight A's, kind-hearted, the blonde and last but not least Forsythe Pendleton Jones the III also known as Jughead Jones, angst, the writer, gloom, sardonic humour, the loner, dark hair.

"Are your sure you don't want a party Juggie? You're turning double digits!" Exclaimed a young Betty Cooper to a very anti-Birthday Jughead Jones.

"I don't like celebrating my birthday Bets you know that, especially celebrating it with people, but your effort has been appreciated" Jughead explained with his monotone voice.

"At least let us to take you to a double feature at the Bijou!" Archie Andrews suggested, eager to have his best friend have at least a little celebration.

"You guys aren't going to let this go are you?" Jughead asked a bit annoyed. The redhead and the blonde shook their heads, Jughead gave them a small smirk.

"Fine, only because you two are the only people I am willing to stay around for more then 5 minutes"

Betty got up from the booth and rushed over to the table where their parents were eating, and excitedly asked the parents about Archie's idea for Jughead's Birthday. They all agreed, except Alice Cooper who took some extra convincing.

"What happens if they get kidnaped right in the middle of the movie, they are like 9 and 10 years old?!" She would exclaim.

"Calm down Alice I'll go with them if it stops your complaining" F.P offered, Alice glared over at him, she always had a problem with F.P, always drinking, lives in a trailer, lost heaps of jobs, and maybe they may had known each other in the past..... Hal Cooper put a hand on Alice's shoulder giving her a nod indicating to just give it a chance, she agreed but gave F.P an eye roll of disgust before doing so. Betty turned around and gave Archie and Jughead a big smile, happy that they get to do something together.

Archie, Betty and Jughead have always been close, three best friends. And the day at the Bijou made them even more closer, the blonde and the redhead sat on each side of the dark haired boy ready to watch the double feature.

"As much as I didn't want to do this, thanks for trying to bring my life at least a little bit of joy" Jughead explained.

"Oh lighten up Jug! Let's just have fun, don't be so gloomy" Archie explained, while giving Jughead's arm a light punch. Betty let out a little giggle and looked over at Jughead and grabbed his hand.

"Happy Birthday Juggie, I got you something" Betty hands Jughead a wrapped parcel, he felt guilty, especially since he had asked them not get him anything, but of course they didn't listen which explained why Archie had gotten him a whole writing ...

"Happy Birthday Juggie, I got you something" Betty hands Jughead a wrapped parcel, he felt guilty, especially since he had asked them not get him anything, but of course they didn't listen which explained why Archie had gotten him a whole writing kit, his friends knew him to well. Jughead slowly opened that present, trying not to make a mess and rip the paper. The present was a beanie, with the rim of it shaped like a crown, he traced his fingers along the points, and smiled knowing that she had made it herself. He looked up and took his cardboard crown off, it looked rugged and wrecked and he loved it to death, it was one of the only things he had left of his mum and his sister...

"I know how much you loved your cardboard crown and how you seemed a bit down about how it was getting wrecked, so I made you this crown beanie so it can last longer and repl-" Betty couldn't even finish her explanation because Jughead had leaned over and had given her the biggest hug. He was ecstatic, he was so thankful of how thoughtful she was, he leaned back into his seat and grinned from ear to ear.

"Thank you Betts.." He breathed.

"Anything for you Jug" She smiled, while blushing. He stared at her soft blonde hair, which was tied up into her signature ponytail, her brown eyes which he found he couldn't look away from. He knew right there and then that he couldn't deny it anymore, he liked Betty Cooper, and maybe for a moment he had felt truly happy, something which he had not felt for awhile...

The three best friends ended up going to the Bijou every year for Jughead's Birthday, it became a tradition. The best friends lived on until sophomore year...

Sophomore year is what changed everything.
Sophomore year is where Riverdale the small, innocent town was no more.

There was no such thing as the town with Pep.
