Soft At Heart

PROLOGUE

"I always tell you not to cry unnecessarily it's not healthy" Ade mumbled while hugging her crying friend, wondering why she was so fragile.

Bolu said in between sobs "If only she did not go that day they would still be together" referring to the Philippine movie they had just watched, she didn't know why Bolu always got this way, she preferred watching Nigerian movies with her pointing out all the obvious problems in each scene of the movie than sitting through ten minutes of her really soaking tears.

Well this was a lesson she has to take heed to next time she wouldn't watch any movie with her that ends tragically.

The door opened and Tope came in, noticing the obvious scene, made an attempt at escaping all to no avail " Tope come and see what a mess she has made again, this is all on you for giving us such an horrible movie to watch" while trying to hush him in

"I thought she had stopped her over dragged sadness over sad movies anyway" pulling his twin sister from Ade's embrace

"Mom said she needs you downstairs something about taking measurements" with that Bolu got up wiped her freshly shed tears before descending down the stairs

"You know I thought she had grown up after all these months" trying to look innocent, obviously he didn't really think I was buying this right.

After ten minutes into the movie she realized it was going to end terribly but Bolu hated not finishing her movies

"Yeah I also thought that" moving close enough to him, noticing her slow movements he instantly sprung up and ran down the stairs in order to catch him she had to run as well.

Calling out to Tope, after reaching halfway of the stairs she realized her neatly bound hair had loosened in an attempt to reach for another headband in her pocket she suddenly realized she had hit something, something hard and obviously bigger than her, she felt a slight pain on her head, she looked up trying to make out the figure in front of her then she realized she was in big trouble.

After a long day at work all he wanted was to go to his house and rest then his mom called telling him to come home and eat dinner with his family, in between all the babble coming from his mom he tried to tell her no. Remembering his maid Sheila had gone for her 1 month Christmas and New year holiday, reminding himself how much he despised eating canned food so he changed his mind and told her to have his bed prepared.

He had to branch at his house first to get a few things before going home after his put his things in the booth of his car he remembered his sister and how he had not talked to her in a while and all the missed calls he got from her knowing when he gets home his little sister would be really angry with him.

He thought to himself, after so many months he would visit his old bed again, he picked up his phone and dialed Tope's number after like four rings he finally picked up.

"Hello, ah bros after all these days you finally remembered me well what's the occasion"

"Do me a favor and help me get your sister in a sober mood so when she sees me she won't start hitting me and also telling me how uncaring I am towards her" understanding what he meant, Tope laughed before telling him there was a price to pay and told him not to worry that he would take care of it then hung up the phone.

He got in his car and put it in ignition, trying to recall the route to his house, after a moment of uncertainty he gave up and decided to use his GPS.

It was more or less like a 2 hours drive from his company to his home, on getting there he saw a few maids bustling around the compound wondering why it was so busy.

He parked and got down from his car looking around for any familiar face, ah he had seen one and then he called out to the his mom's driver telling him to take his briefcase and the other things he had brought in, and then he heard his mom call out his nickname "TOTO"

Remembering how embarrassing that name had been for him but now it just sounded so nice to be able to hear and see his mom. After climbing the verandah were his mom was and prostrated to greet her, she quickly told him to get up and gave him a big and warm hug.

Then he saw his sister who seemed happy to see him, before he realized what she was about to do he received a very tight yet relaxed hug. Then she finally let go and he was able to see how much she had grown over these past months.

Before she could give him a lecture about how he has to take care and worry about his sister, he placed a kiss on her right cheek, apologized to her for not being able to talk because he had to take a really long shower then headed inside the house .

"Welcome brother" Tosin said as he ran down the stairs and did something that almost resembled a greeting, in an attempt of trying to acknowledge his brothers greeting he had barely climbed two stairs when he suddenly felt something roughly light land on him.

Trying to regain his balance before both him and his newfound load landed on the floor, looking down at what had hit him. He realized he had made an horrible mistake, why didn't he think of her before agreeing to come home.

She hated being in or around the house when Ade's brother was around, he always made her feel very insecure of herself which wasn't a normal thing for her, but there he was looking at her with those knowing eyes

She knew she had to say something but the words were stuck in her throat she held her breath for so long she had forgotten to breathe taking in a large heap of breath, he noticed what was happening and tried to get them in a less uncomfortable position

He didn't know what it was but anytime he sees her he always feels helpless so he always tried to blame it on her hazel eyes and her pink luscious lips.

Anytime he looked at her he always saw nothing but innocence "i.......am really, um..... really sorry, I didn't see you coming" pausing in between all her words, he sincerely wished she would stop looking at him so innocently, he was sure he felt his heart flutter

Oh God now he was sounding like a shy lovesick school boy, in order to be rid of his impetuous thoughts he slowly turned his head tried climbing the first step but something drew him back turning to see what it was, he saw her hand was still on his shoulder trying to shrug it off he heard her hopelessly trying to apologize to him with that he turned back, trying not to show any sign of reaction he took off.

Ade wasn't sure what had happened to her at that moment but she sure didn't want it happening again. She really needed to get her head in the game and stop acting foolish around Bolu's brother she should try to ignore his perfectly but soft patterned jaw and the hot manliness radiating from him. O God she really needed to stop her wild imagination after what just happened she knew she needed to make herself scarce in this big mansion. Finishing her long journey down the stairs to catch Tope when she sees him he is so dead.
