Chapter 1. (Picture of Skylar)

Chapter 1: The Begining.

It was the first day of summer. I just finished Sophmore year. I was excited my best friend Ann and I had planned out our whole summer. First, we were going to go to the Bahamas for a month with both our familys. Then, when we get back we are going to hang out with our group of friends. Instead right before school started Ann, her boyfriend Joey, Joey's best friend Carson, and I were going to go to Cali for a week and a half. Spend some time on the beach , ya know. But of course not, life wasn't that good.

You may ask why her boyfriend is coming with his best friend, like what about me? Joey and Ann were hoping Carson and I would hook up. I wasn't for the idea. He was like a brother to me. Don't get me wrong he was gorgeous. Dark brown hair, almost black, blue eyes that reminded me of the sea. But I just couldn't get past the fact that he felt like a brother. We've known each other since kindergarten. We're the ones that hooked up Joey and Ann.

I lived with my Mom, Dad, and younger brother Chase. Chase was the cutest 5 year old. I loved him with all my heart. Mom and Dad never fought, they were completly in love even after 20 years. My dad was some big lawyer and my mom was a fashion designer. We had lots of money. I wasn't going to let my parents being rich get to my head like some of the kids I went to school did.

The last day of school I slept over at Ann's house. I was waiting for my parents to come pick me up so I could go home and finish packing for the Bahamas when I got the call that would change my life forever.

My phone began to sing 11:11 by Austin Mahone. I picked up not knowing who it was. "Hello?"

"Hello, Skylar Evans?' The guy on the other line said.

"Yes, this is she." I asked confuzed.

"I am terribly sorry to have to tell you this but your paretns and little brother were just killed in a car accident. What's your current location? We're having an officer come pick you up. In your moms will she wants you to live with a friend of the family Kelly Miller. She has been informed and is on her way from Minnesota and will arrive in New Mexico in about 2 hours."

"Oh my god." This is not happening. I started sobbing. I can't believe what the officerr was saying. Why my parents. Oh my god! Chase! No, this can't be happening. I was so busy trying to figure out everything he was saying I almost forgot to answer him. "Im at my best friend Ann's house." I then  told him the address.

"Okay don't worry we will have an officer over soon. She will drive you over to your house and help you pack up all your belongings. Goodbye, and im terribly sorry."

Just then Ann came walking down the stairs and immediately knew something was wrong. "What's wrong!?!" I couldn't answer her, i was to busy sobbing and shaking to say anything. "Sky! What happened?'

"My mom. My Dad. Chase. There d-d-d-ead. Car accident." I couldn't stand any longer. I fell to the ground and curled into a ball.

"MOM!!!!" Ann shouted.

"What, Whats happened?' Mrs. Harper came running down the stairs.

"Sky-Skylar's parents, and C-chase. They died. They got into a c-car accident." Ann was sobbing too.

"Oh my heavens." she looked totaly shocked. Like she couldn't comprehend what was going on. "BILL!!" Why was everyone shouting? couldn't they see how much pain I was in.

Mr. Harper came walking own the stairs like Mrs. Harper is always yelling his name. The he see's his daughter, wife , and me crying and runs up to Mrs. Harper and hugs her. " What is going on?!"

I couldn't hear the news again. I tuned them out thinking of my parents. Oh my god, how can this be happening. Not my parents, my little brother. My breath got caught in my throat. Im never going to see them again. Just then the door bell rang.

Lanny, their maid, came running in. "There's an officer at the door. She says she is here for Skylar." She then see's the condition everyone was in. " Oh my, why is that officer here?" she pointed accusingly at the door.

I didn't stay around to here her answer I got up and walked to the door, everyone following behind me. The Officer was in the doorway. She looked in her mid-twenties.

"Umm, Hello. Skylar?" she asked sounding uncomfortable.

"Yeah. can I have a few minutes to say bye to my best friend and her family?"

"Yes, of course honey have all the time you need. We are in no hurry." She smiled at me. I didn't have the energy to smile back. I just nodded.

Turning back to Ann. She just looked at me and shook her head back and forth fiercely. "No, you can't leave. You can just live with me. Mom, Dad, You don't care right?"

"Of course not sweetie. We will gladly take you in." Mrs. Harper said.

"Im s-sorry. In my m-m-moms will she said she wants me to live will a friend of the familys. Her name is Kelly Miller. She lives in M-M-Minnesota." I wasn't crying as hard now. The Tears were silently rolling down my cheeks. My shocking electric blue eyes must have been glassy and shiny. I still couldn't believe what was happening.

"NOO, thats to far away." Ann cried. She ran up to me and graped me into a huge hug.

"I love you Ann."

"I love you more Sky."

I stepped out of her arms only to be pulled into another one by Mrs. Harper. She was sobbing big and heavy. She was always over the top emotional. Well I shouldn't judge. Im probably going to be crying myself to sleep for a while.

"We are going to miss you so much honey," Mr. Harper was nodding his head while she spoke. "We will come visit you at least 3 times a year."

With one last hug from Ann, I turned to Ms. Officer Lady. "Okay, Im ready." I whispered.

With that being the only goodbye I was getting till the furneral, which was just going to be a pity party, we left. I was sobbing again.

I'm going to pick a random song I like to put at the end of each chapter. It's going to have nothing to do with the chapter. The first one though inspired the name of the story. So this one doesn't count. :p
