I remember waking up to the high screeching of an alarm. Ceiling lights flickering or completely dark. The usually pristine lab torn apart and devoid of scientists. My cage bars were broken enough for me to squeeze through.

Once out I noticed how extensive the damage really was. Portions of roof fallen in leaving gaping holes through which rain was pouring in, lab cages crushed and mangled with bars sticking out like the ribs of a long forgotten beast. Crimson blood coated the floor by the window and continued in a slick trail to the door.
The entire room smelled of death and fear.

Deciding that I couldn't stay here I approached the door ready to travel further into the desolate labratory.
