I always loved school. The feeling of writing work on paper. Taking all the tests. Taking notes. Everything about school excited me. There were also good people. I enjoyed having so many kind friends. They were the most amazing people I had ever met.
Everyone has their own story about school. What they think about it. How it goes. Well this is mine. And beware. It gets really crazy, and interesting, from here.
It was freezing cold outside. It was only 7:30 in the morning. The doors wouldn't open until 8:10.
I had to bring some supplies for the band concert. It was Halloween themed and the whole band would dress up, playing fun and spooky music. I brought the stuff on a Tuesday. That was the day honors percussion had sectionals. Sectionals are when an instrument group goes in, and gets extra help with Mrs. Harper. She was my favorite teacher. She taught band. It was also my favorite subject. I was in love with music. It was my life. I played Bass Clarinet. There was only one other person who played it with me. Her name's Michelle. I heard my friend Sean's voice. He plays flute.
"Hey betch!" Sean said when he saw me.
"Heyyyy!!" I said across a group of random people.
Sean and Mark both walked up to me. As soon as I saw Mark, I started to blush. I tried my best to cover my face. It didn't work. They both just thought I was cold. Sean asked what the bag was for. I explained, but I couldn't stop looking at Mark. His dark curly hair, soft brown eyes, and his sweet smile had me stuck in a trance. He is an amazing person and an even better friend.
A little while after we had met up, I told Sean I used to like Mark.
"Wait when?" Marked asked
"Since the beginning of the school year till last Sunday." I replied. A slight frown fell across my face.
"Why did you stop?"
"Cause I want to find someone I can date."
"Who said we can't date?" He asked. Smiling in hopes to make you happy.
I didn't answer. I just walked closer to the doors.
The doors finally opened. I walked into the school with my two friends. Hot air welcoming me as soon as we entered. I walked straight down the hallway and took a right at the end.
The three of us looked like a group of basic white girls. It was funny because we were best friends. It was all I wanted with friends and more.
As soon as I got into the band hall, I turned the supplies into Mrs Harper's office, and put my instrument together. I walked into a back room with Sean and began to practice. I could hear the snare drum being rattled through the light, hollow walls. I couldn't help but smile. Sean noticed and asked why I seemed so happy.
I couldn't let him know that I still liked Mark, so I simply said,"I'm just happy to be at school."
He knows how much I like it. He thinks it's weird, but everyone at Harrison is. It's like our school thing.
Five minutes before the bell rang, Sean and I walked out of the room. I started to put my instrument away when I saw Mark. I closed my case, put it in my cube, and walked towards him. We started talking a little. Then I heard the bell ring. I walked out of the band hall doors in a crowd of a bunch of people. Some I knew. Some I didn't. Since my first period is in D Hall, I passed through the PE gym. This was to be sure I wasn't late to class. I saw my ex, Stacy, when I exited the gym. I passed her and kept walking. I heard her voice behind me.
"Harley, wait!"
I just walked faster. I saw my History teacher and told her good morning. Then I saw my Computer Explorations teacher, said good morning, and walked into her classroom. I took my bag off and set it down onto the dark grey carpet. I took my headphones out of my backpack, then put them into my pocket. I found my seat, then began talking to my friend Orto. After the tardy bell rang, I typed my information into the computer, got into Google Classroom, and typed my daily entry.
It was once again time to take the seven hour routine. This day was just like any other. Or so I thought. Fourth period would change my life at school and at home. Let's just see what the rest of the world has in store for me and the rest of my friends.
