She could hear it behind her. All of her dark thoughts, her depression, her anxiety and her schizophrenia coming together to create the monster now chasing her through the maze of her mind. And no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't seem to break free from it. It was getting closer every day, with every step she took, every breath of air, every word. She knew there was nothing she could do to stop the monster. But someone else could do something, someone on the outside could save her from her monster. And someone almost did. She saw a light shining through her darkness, a light that drove the monster away, a light that shone brighter than the sun, moon, and stars combined, this light shone so bright it ignited a small flame in the depths of her soul, this was a flame of hope. This light, her hope, almost saved her from the terrible creature inside her. Until that light was extinguished. Without her light, her hope, her love, the monster had come back, the cause of all her pain and torment throughout her years, only this time it was stronger, bigger, and hungrier than before. This time it had no trouble catching her, and when it did, it ate away at her, it seemed to know her weak points and how to make her crumble from the inside. It did this until her small flame of hope inside flickered, then went out.
