Second Born

I ran down 48th street occasionally turning around to make sure that Sawyer and Roman were behind me. I cut down an alley way, pressed my hand against the wall and opened the door that appeared. "Quick inside." I said pushing them in. I quickly looked around and headed in.

My name is Allison(Ali) Maxwell. The year is 2097. I want you to imagine this. Bruno Akeldama a solider who had just fought in the fourth war world is alone and hungry for power. So naturally he did rise to power. And he created the city of Kassin. It was as big as New York City, London, and Paris, city's that had fallen during the third world war.

And he made several new laws that I hated. One law that made me the angriest was because of overpopulation. You could only have one child. Some parents forgot the law and had a second child. So they had to kill the baby.

Like me. I'm a second born. But my parents didn't kill me. They hid me. Mom and Dad and my brother Zane died fighting the government soldiers to keep me safe. I ended up on the streets when I was about thirteen. But I met my two best friends that way. Sawyer Campbell and Roman Lis were second borns too. Their families had been killed also. And we came up with and idea that would have gotten us killed.

Smuggling second borns out of Kassin. We started when we were fourteen and now we're twenty three and we haven't stopped. Its pretty great even though we could get caught by a soldier and be tortured and killed. But that's besides the point.

"So what's her name?" Sawyer asked pulling down her hood and looking at the baby who was nestled in Roman's arms.

"Thea Robinson." I said looking at her paper's. "I'll take her to Juno." Sawyer said gently taking her.

Juno is one of are stops (stops are people we take the kids to that'll get them safely out of Kassin).

"Its cutting it close to curfew." I said biting my nails.

"I'll stay will Juno tonight if I need to then." Sawyer said kissing my cheek.

"Be safe." Roman called as she left.

After a few minutes of quiet I got up from the couch.

"Well I'll see you in the morning." I said to Roman.

He nodded his eye glued to the computer screen (a dog went rogue on him when he was little so he can't see of one eye). I smiled a little and headed to my room hoping to get more then three hours sleep.
