"I...I'll see ya later,"

Princess Zelda, shocked into silence, bent down and grasped a small peice of the broken mirror that had fallen by her feet. It was slightly warm and reminded her that the twilight princess, that Midna, was truly gone. She looked over at Link,

"Im sorry, hero," she said quietly. He sighed and looked away from her,

"Its fine" he murmured,

"I can not thank you enough for everything you have done for Hyrule. I will forever be in your debt, Hero of Twilight," She put her head down. He turned to her and smiled, though it didn't quite meet his eyes,

"Call me Link," he said. She smiled and nodded. The sun began to set behind them,

"I guess we should get going. Without.....her I can't port and Epona can't get here. It'll take a while to get out of the dessert," He explained, picking up a shard and putting it in his pouch,

"Don't worry. I've learned a few things," She extended her hand and he took it without hesitation,

"What do you mean, princess?" he asked. She shook her head,

"Zelda," she corrected,

"Right," He smiled and watched as she placed two fingers on the ground...

And then they were in front of Castle Town.

Or what was left of it.

Zelda gasped and a tear rolled down her cheek. Castle Town was in ruins, and no people were around,

" They didn't know it was coming, they never had time to escape," She said, mostly to herself. She felt his hand on her shoulder,

"There is nothing you could've done, Zelda," He assured her. He whistled a firmiliar tune and Epona, his clidesdale, came striding up to him,

"Hey, girl," he said to her and patted her muzzle. Link looked back at her,

"Come with me," He said,

"What?" Confusion was clear on her face,

"Obviously you cant stay here. Who knows what looms in the city now. Come with me to Ordon. That's the last place anyone would look for a princess," he explained as he jumped on the mare's back. She hesitated,

"Are you sure? I really don't want to be a burden, especially to someone I owe so much to, He rolled his eyes and extended his hand down to her, smiling,

"I want you to come," he said, before blushing slightly. She smiled and took his hand, hopping onto Epona,

"We have one quick stop on the way. I have to pick up the kids and Llia in Kakariko," he said as they started off, in the opposite direction of her childhood home. She nodded and wrapped her arms around his waist. The sun finally fell beyond the horizen, and the chill set in. Link seemed slightly on edge, and she couldn't help but think it was because of how close she was. She sighed quietly and watched the Hyrule field go by. A couple robgoblins zoomed by, but she didnt worry. Her hero would protect her. She blinked, shocked. Did she just think that? She couldn't feel that way about him. She was the princess, and he was the Hero of Twilight. She sighed and leaned her head against him.
